this has a lot going on for it so far
I have not read the manga, and I don't know how the anime will pan out, but so far this does not seem to be a traditional sports anime. While the soccer parts were very nicely animated, fast paced, ad fun to watch, there is a whole lot more going on: Aoyama's personal problems, the side characters, the "rivals" (with more to come, no doubt).

Bonus: this show does not take itself too seriously. ...

Liking this show for the right reasons.
Watch more than the first 2 episodes. The main idea around this anime isn't about soccer, but rather how the main character effects the lives of everyone else. Its mainly a comedy/slice of life story line that shouldn't be taken too seriously and it does a good job keeping you engaged with characters. I've watched all of the episodes released so far and feel like the reviewers that have left 1 ...

    soccer meets anime comedies
This anime is more about the comedy and main character, Aoyama-kun, and side character stories than the actually game of soccer so far. So if the idea of a "sports anime" is keeping you from watching it, don't let it! The soccer parts are fun and fast paced and are more about what the characters are feeling or going through outside of the game itself. It's funny and full of side stories about the ...

    Tickles my "Kickers" feeling
First episode was really good! Five stars for that, seems to have some nice setups, the two main characters are likeable and got good chemistry with each other.
It kinda reminds me of Kickers in a bit.

Mid you, im really not intoM Soccer/football or most sportsanime, but I give all new Animes a one episode chance, and this convinced me to watch more!

    Try it!

It Was Good More Than Halfway Through But...
The animation was great, the soccer plot was great. I'm getting into the sports anime genre these days and soccer seemed new to me, and the plot where a soccer player has a germaphobic issue was definitely new. It was very lighthearted and funny.

You get a good, fun plot more than halfway through the series. Then for some horrible reason, around episode 8, the storyline drops. Plunges. It's ...

Aoyama-Kun is a very simple and clean anime.
Aoyama-Kun has a very simple story. It has a lot going for it for being a soccer anime. It's more of a comedy than just your average sports anime. It offers what I like in an anime. Simple, No limit to episode creativity, and a good amount of comedy. Not a lot of people sit back and watch an anime just because it has sports in it, but I will tell you this is definitely more of a comedy. Also a ...

    lot's of comedy, less sports
    this is a soccer show
but it's not heavily focused on sports
this is a comedy about a guy who likes to stay clean but gets dirty playing soccer
it has some serious elements but mostly it focuses on character development
it is a very good show, both for people who like sports and like comedies

    Interesting Show So Far
I don't typically watch sports-themed anime, but as a huge soccer fan, I was curious. Lighthearted so far, but waiting for some character development to unfold. Interesting use of priorities with Aoyama's character (i.e., hating to lose) that supercede his germaphobia.

  • Not a total sports anime
I thought watching this show was gonna be sports heavy with the lead being a super awesome player that is a germaphobe. But it seemed liked every episode wasn't like that, they had side stories and basically showed other people(that weren't even on the team) and their mini storyline. Which was fine, but it seemed to be off track or maybe they shouldn't have advertised it as sports heavy than what ...
