Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion...It is THE anime to watch. If you watch it, you will NEVER regret watching this. I'll make this a short synopsis so there's really no spoilers. Here you are! This anime starts off with a war between Japan and Britannia. The Japanese are defeated and are now called Area 11. A young boy named Lelouch Lamperouge who is a pure genius despises his country Britannia, where he currently lives. He is an "ordinary" student who attends Ashford Academy as a part of the Student Council. He has a younger sister named Nunnally who is blind and crippled from seeing their mother die in front of her eyes. She wishes for a more peaceful, gentler world with no war/fights going on everyday and he aims to make her wish come true and will do whatever it takes to make it come true... He then obtains a power called the Geass from a girl named C.C and uses it to make that wish come to reality...

This anime is NOT boring. It's FAR from boring. The drawings are by CLAMP and as usual, amazing drawings. A simple, but incredible plot. UNBELIEVABLE PLOT TWISTS. I'm really picky about the anime I watch and this is the best anime I have ever watched in my life. This anime just makes you want more and more and more. It makes you utterly obsessed with it. Or at least addicted to it. The background music is simply INGENIUS. It really mixes in with all the different events that happen. The characters' personalities are really well-made up. Each are all unique and everything about it is just incredible. This anime isn't exactly for kids. It's complicated and some parts are confusing and hard to keep up with. So I'd have to say 13+ should watch it. Or maybe even older. I say 13+ because I watched it when I was 13 and I understood most of it. It has the perfect mix of everything. Action. Drama. Comedy. Romance. Horror. School Life. What're you still reading this for? You should already have started watching this by now! So go and start this incredible anime!

i love this show but after an intense episode i watch i think of the laughably horrible opening and or ending theme. besides that i find the story great, majority of the characters likable, and expecialy how they added the mecha genra into it im not a big fan of mecha i find it cheesy, corny, childish but i think they did this very good.

I don't usually review anime, but having just re-watched the whole series twice in a row (I'd already seen it a few years back), I really can't give it enough praise. This show hooks you and tenaciously brings you along on an experience packed full of twists, turns, and top-notch character development. The show has more themes and topics for debate than you can shake a stick at, but each of them is played out across the whole cast of characters in a way that must be seen to be believed. It's all about ideals and shades of grey. Loyalty, betrayal, and the right to rule all play a part. Not to mention the ever present motif of the value of lies and the justifications one finds for them. Lelouch begins with fairly simple motivations, but by the end of season 2 he becomes one of the most wonderful and tragic heroes I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

With that said, you absolutely must watch R2 if you are going to watch the series. The first season is a cliffhanger like no other and demands that you follow through to the conclusion. S

I've never watched anything like Code Geass and its second season R2. I've also never actually been obsessed with an anime until I stumbled onto this one. The thing that puts CG in a stark comparison with others is that it combines the elements of sadness, confusion, happiness, and hope into one big, intense storyline. It's difficult to predict what would happen throughout the series too, because every time I thought I had something figured out - CG took a sharp twist with heart-wrenching maneuvers. I can't even begin to list all the things that had me on the verge of tears - an example of one is the death of Shirley. The viewer's, or specifically - my, heart poured so much into the anime to the point that the characters were almost alive in our human world.

However, I think one big reason I fell in love with Code Geass so fast is that I happened to start watching it after the series and its sequel ended. Every day I'd come home after practice or work, only to hurry up my homework and spend hours watching continuous episodes on the computer. Most people who were committed to CG when it was airing had to brace and unbuckle their seatbelts since it was only on once per week. However, I had the opportunity to simply click the next episode button and watch it for hours; my reasoning to why I typed this paragraph is that most of my opinions and reactions to the anime are probably dramatically different to those who didn't have the privilege to watch the anime continuously.

Conclusively, though, this anime deserves a perfect overall score from me because it delivered everything it needed to be called amazing.

Code Geass is one of the best anime I've ever watched. I literally finished both seasons in four days from how good it was. It just grabs your attention and you can't stop watching, you just HAVE to watch the next episode.
There's 50 episodes overall (both seasons) which is the perfect number, not too low like other anime's (12-13 episodes) and not too long like Bleach, One Piece and Naruto. (I am not disrespecting these anime, I love all three, and I love how they're really long too ;p )
The characters are all amazing, they all have different personalties and traits that make them all stand out. The animation of the show makes them even more amazing.
Music is good, and they play the right thing in the appropriate time.
Finally, the story is AMAZING. It might get confusing sometimes, but its still awesome. Fight scenes are epic, all the Knightmares are amazingly animated and their weapons make you wanna have a robot like that in real life... It also has a lot of funny, sad and happy moments...

So, if you still didn't watch the badass, mind grabbing anime yet, what are you still reading this for? Go watch it now! I promis you won't regret it !

With that said, you absolutely must watch R2 if you are going to watch the series. The first season is a cliffhanger like no other and demands that you follow through to the conclusion. Season 2 drags just a tad near the beginning, but from episode 13 onward it becomes extremely touching, as you feel Lelouch's pain through a series of horrible tragedies that put him dangerously close to insanity. The conclusion is a work of art and I am stunned beyond words how beautifully the writers and artists managed to tie everything together. As a man, I rarely shed tears, but this series managed to make me so attached and in love with the characters that the flood of emotions at the end, coming from so many different people who you have watched grow and learn over the course of 50 episodes, made my eyes well up even on my third viewing. AMAZING
