Flex your butt muscles and shout "EXTREME!" It helps.
    *Minor Episode 0 Spoilers Ahead*
    Dear Dies Irae,
Hrrrm... Not sure pairing your modern-day standard school setting with sexy/glorified Nazi super beings from episode 0 was the best marketing move. Nazis are still the gold standard in World's Biggest A-Holes. This needed some adult supervision in the writing department to add context so people who don't like Nazis much don't spend the rest of the ...

Was expecting Hellsing Ultimate type stuff, but...
Okay, so everyone knows that Nazis make good villains, but it can be hard to make them compelling when they're so common. Millennium in Hellsing was a great example of them as compelling antagonists, same with the latest Wolfenstein games, but here...they just feel awkward. It's like they're trying to have a dark sci fi, with Shonen elements, Fan service, and comedy. The animation isn't bad and ...

Dies Irae is a middle school fantasy come true (unfortunately)
If you've ever been a middle schooler or watched Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, you should know that the imagination of a kid can be all over the place. The settings don't make sense, the characters are over the top, all the powers are OP, and the whole thing is incohesive (middle schoolers aren't the best story tellers). Unfortunately, Dies Irae has the same issues. The episodes don't make any ...

    Patience Will Be Rewarded
I rarely write reviews, but I felt it necessary to write one now. There are many who will want to drop this anime after the first episode or two, but I truly feel that that would be a mistake.

This is not your typical anime that gives you all the answers up front and then spends the rest of the season recycling the same patterns over and over again. It is structured more like a film, taking ...

    Get your plot together
Trash with flash that can't pull together a decent, coherent, plot.

Ignore the next part as this is simply filler because to review this I have to have a minimum set of characters. I've already condensed what I think of the show into as short and clear of a concept as I can make it.

Rating would depend on how you watch it
Okay, so this might not be the most agreeable viewpoint, but it's average as it gets as a weekly show. Especially if you get busy and miss a episode, it becomes rather disjointed.

That's because it's pretty much furthest from episodic anime I've seen in few seasons now. Every episode links, and the cast is rather large. It's not sengoku night blood large, but it's on the larger side. Some ...

    Dies Irae: A Potential Masterpiece
This is my first review and its because this anime has great potential and I'm loving it. The story is complex but it has a depth most people won't see until further episodes basically the first 4eps (from ep0 to ep3) is a prologue introducing the villains and the main cast. I read the VN (explored all the routes and every other story) so I might be a little biased but so far from what I have been ...

  • This is probably the best thing about anime
I love anime cause I feel as if it is a modern day equivalent of Shakespeare where you can with certain shows. Sit and either debate various topics or the meaning of what a item represents or what a character means when he speaks a certain way. This show is the embodiment of that very trait. I could watch this show 100 times and still not fully understand everything about it. Though that can lead ...

Skip Episode 0, it's an epilogue!
So many of these bad reviews are accounting for Episode 0 being watched first and making this story (even more of) a confusing mess. Episode 0 was originally a crowdfunding backers bonus; it's literally part of the epilogue of the original game. Don't watch it first. Start on Ep 1.
