Very touching show with great characters.
What is this water coming from my eyes?!

Action packed fight scenes. Crazy special effects. Blisteringly fast plot. This show contains none of those things.

And... I love it even more for it. The setting alone drew me in. Small island six hours away from mainland Japan with a bunch of fishers. Sound quaint? Well, it is! If I try to sum it up, I would say it's a heartwarming show about ...

Interesting watch, and a good take on the genre of rural medical dramas
As an island doctor myself (admittedly, on a much larger island), I really enjoyed this series and was sad to see it over. I can relate to the issues of rurality brought up in the series, and how a physician needs to be a jack of all trades. The surgeries were unreal...it isn't that the medicine was always wrong (the spinal given on the boat was beautiful), it is just that I doubt outcomes would ...

    A really good Japanese drama
I read the manga and this is a good interpretation of the story. I'm a bit deceived that they didn't put more details about the surgeries like the manga BUT it has a good vibe when it comes to feelings and the importance of a person's life. It makes me think a lot of how hard being a good doctor can be. I hope this can set a good example for doctors to treat their patients as people rather than ...

    Heartwarming medical drama
An elite Doctor with masterful surgical skills is sent to a remote Island that has a bad history with halfhearted doctors. The clilnic is in a sorry state, with low resources and obsolete equipment. The situation is so bad people would simply accept death and that was the status quo until Dr Goto, nicknamed "Coto" by the rowdy and gossipy fishermen came in. It took a while for them to accept him ...

  • Warm, Bittersweet, Wonderfully Human
The island is an idyllic place. Home to good, honest working people. Resistant to change. Distrustful of outsiders. And full of beautiful scenery. The island sets the stage for a remarkable show that opens you to the islander's lives, through the eyes of a newcomer, Dr. Koto. It is a wonderful, heartwarming story - full of joy and sometimes bittersweet. I watched all of the episodes over ...

  • A Heartwarming Drama
This drama made me believe in humanity once more, in the kindness and compassion that one human being can give to another. Dr. Coto's Clinic also reminds me of the time I spent on a remote island nation not so far from Japan. I can attest to the general truth that islanders tend to be simple and humble, yet congenial and genuine -- qualities which are often buried behind in busy city ...

  • Slice of life in the slooow lane
Just watched the first show and liked it! It looks like you can't expect a fast pace. Also just like any small town everyone thinks they knows everything about everyone else....I liked the acting, better then some other live action shows I've watched. The plot seems to be building up to something about the doctor's background but no clue yet other then some jumbled scenes of him operating in the ...
