Fate Zero

Fate / Zero es sin duda una gran precuela que le hace honor a la saga, que cuenta de forma magistral el origen de lo que luego veremos en la Novela Visual (y anime) de Fate / Stay Night. No se ha dejado nada alazar, y aunque hay detalles que no me parecen (ya que me parece raro que Stay Night no lo mencione), son cosas pequeñas que están al gusto de cada uno.

Comenzando con la Animación, esta es de una gran calidad, donde predomina los efectos especiales y las escenas nocturnas.

Con los personajes, simplemente perfectos. Todos tienen sus motivaciones personales para estar en la Guerra del Santo Grial, y su desarrollo en la historia, sus luchas y sufrimientos son contados en una gran forma, sin omitir detalles.

En resumen, una serie que merece la pena, y mas si eres fanático de esta saga.

Fate Zero is the prequel on Fate Stay Night (FSN) both based on a graphic novel with the same names. (there's also another part covering the time of fate/stay night).

I was triggerd to see Fate Zero because i saw FSN and I thought it was awesome. I never thought that Fate Zero would be sooo much better then the FSN

In short the setting:
Time: this day and age
Where: Mostly in Japan
What is it about: The Holy Grail War! 7 mages who summon 7 different servants will fight each other to the death in order to get one wish granted by the Holy Grail. The servants are all in there own class saber/archer/lancer (a.k.a. the knight classes) furthermore berserker/caster/rider and assassin. Hero's of the past/present and perhaps even the future (FSN). In these series ALL characters are based on historical characters.

Storyline is chronological and good to follow, It's far from boring and has a lot depth in it. I think it has a nice pace to it, not too fast like everything is rushed. But also not too slow, you will stay hooked.
If you havent seen FSN the first double episode might be an overload of information. Its not a must to see FSN to understand Fate Zero. However I think I enjoy it a bit more seeing a range of characters again (rin, sakura, illya and more).

Music: Aside from beautifull OP and ED. (music is sooo subjectiv) it has a very good fitting arsenal of background music during the series.

Characters: Both magicians and servants have clearly their own motivs, their strong points and weakness. I think they spent quite some time in order to get this. So far I like every character for what he is and what his role is in Fate Zero for they do fullfil their roles in a fantastic kinda way.

Animation, everything looks slick especially the combat parts are awesome to watch.

In total i think this is my favorite Anime together with FMA Brotherhood (i've seen quite a few)

I don't normally do reviews about anything but I felt the need to share my opinions on this anime.

Foremost, I usually can't stand cheesiness, fanservice, and loli elements in anime. I tend to prefer more serious cartoons like naoki urasawa's monster. Now, I did grow up watching the usual classics like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Evangelion, Gundam, etc. and I can tolerate (and sometimes downright enjoy) comic relief. It really irritates me when an anime has great animation, music, plot, action, depth, and character development but is RIDDLED with cheesy stereotypes (how many times can one trip on another person or accidentally see them naked? Or better yet, get caught in an inappropriate position with a character of the opposite sex?) It really turns me off to the series entirely. Or when half the show is ridiculously dark and melancholic but cutesy and has quite a bit of comic relief. It always seems out of whack and balance to me.

Fate Zero? I absolutely love everything about it. The soundtrack is great (and not at all cheesy), the character development is OUT OF THIS WORLD for a japanese anime, the action is spectacular, and the plot is in a league of its own. It does follow many of the usual clicheic archetypes but all in all quite enjoyable.

I think as long as they keep the pace the series is going at, it could easily be up there with the big boys in terms of quality.

Fate/Zero ocurre 10 años antes de los acontecimientos de Fate/stay night, en la cual se detalla los sucesos que desencadenaron en la 4º Guerra por el Santo Grial en la Ciudad de Fuyuki. La Guerra por el Santo Grial es una competencia a muerte en la cual siete Magos (Masters) convocan siete Espíritus Heroicos (Servants) para que libren una batalla entre sí, en la cual el único equipo ganador que quede en pie será el merecedor del poder del Santo Grial, el cual puede conceder cualquier deseo. Después de tres guerras inconclusas en las cuales no hubo un ganador, la 4º Guerra por el Santo Grial está a punto de empezar.

El Grial fue creado hace siglos atrás por las familias Einzbern, Makiri y Tōsaka. Los Einzbern, después de tres fracasos sucesivos, están decididos a obtener el Grial a cualquier costo, y por ello deciden en representación de ellos enviar como Master en esta 4º Guerra a Emiya Kiritsugu, un Magus Killer (Asesino de magos). Él es un mercenario de élite sumamente conocido, tanto por su reputación como por sus tácticas, ya que es capaz de hacer cualquier cosa para lograr su objetivo. A pesar que en el pasado Kiritsugu deseaba ser un héroe y salvar a todo el mundo, él decidió abandonar su ideal al darse cuenta de que el salvar la vida de un persona siempre costará la vida de otras. Es así como decidió destruir despiadadamente a quien sea con tal de obtener la paz de otros.

Sin embargo, Kiritsugu se encuentra profundamente dividido entre el amor que él quiere dar a su nueva familia - su esposa Irisviel von Einzbern y su hija Illya - y el objetivo que deberá conseguir en esta 4º Guerra.

Simplemente eso: espectacular. La guerra por el santo grial no puede estar mejor! Gran ambientación en las batallas, sumado a un apartado musical excelente. La primera temporada te prepara para lo que sera una lucha épica, librada en esta segunda temporada que comenzó. Imperdible.

For me, Fate/Zero is up there with Bleach and Naruto: Shippuden they have a great variety of characters from the nice Saber to a crazy serial killer, Caster, and his master. I also have to say that Lancer is one of the most BA characters in the series along with Berserker and Rider.

I see that some of you may be confused as to the chronology of this anime. This is the prequel to Fate/Stay Night: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fate/stay_night . This anime is based ten years before fate/stay night and tells the story of the fourth holy grail war and the events leading up to the terrible fire at the beginning of the first episode of Fate/stay night. If you have not seen Fate/Stay night and you so far like Fate/Zero I urge you, as a fan, to watch it as soon as you can. The characters somewhat disappoint me in this prequel. For one iskander(Alexander) is one of those annoying anime characters that can ruin a show for you. You may want to just skip over every scene that includes him unless it is accompanied by any other servant. The other servants aren't really that bad but they are not as good as the sequel's cast of servants. One concern I have in the creativity of the character designer(s) is why does lancer in fate/zero look so similar to lancer in fate/stay night and yet they are not the same. It's like they just give him a new hairstyle and an extra lance and voila he's a whole new character. Well that's just my opinion anyways. Still, watching this feels exactly like watching fate/stay night as there well be lots of talking and only some action. The storyline of this anime is pretty cool as it introduced some plot twists for anyone who has watched fate/stay night and was actually paying attention to the story. Animation is top-notch. The opening and ending themes are not too good.

I'll start off by saying I haven't seen the prequel series. But it doesn't feel like I'm missing anything crucial to the plot of the storyline. Of course, given that one seemingly minor character (Rin) is given her own episode, you can pretty much tell she has a role in the prequel. The characters are interesting and the plot isn't confusing. The battles are fantastic to watch, though they don't seem to happen all that often. I loathe one of the characters in particular (Alexander), but that is mostly due to his characterization. That being said, each character is distinct from another. It's a nice mix. Overall, the series is fun and entertaining! Definitely recommended!
