I wasn't sure this was for me...
The premise sounded ok...but I wasn't sure it was really what I wanted to watch...my tastes in anime tend to gravitate toward the lighter side...as an escape from the daily grind...

Having finished watching 5 of 13...it is starting to gow on me...I am liking the characters and the artwork is unique among anime today...the animation style is reminiscent of the animated classic "Heavy ...

Reminds me of the film work of Andrei Tarkovsky
Per my review title: I love that this anime takes it's time. It enjoys the long shot (long sequences without much action or talking). It goes about it's business much in the way a lot of foreign art house moves of the 50-70s did.

The sound design is brilliant. I cannot stress this enough. The art, as I am sure you have read by now, is done via a rotoscoping process. I really like it. I've ...

Give The Flowers of Evil a Chance
I'll admit that the rotoscoping took a little time to get used to initially, I've grown to enjoy it. In fact, it does make more sense as far as the story.

In the manga version, Nakamura is cute. Even if she was socially awkward, the boys would ignore that based on appearance alone. In the anime version, you get a more realistic look at the characters and its easier to see why she is considered ...

I really like it. Different and unique
This is my first time watching an anime with a different animation. I have to disagree with most people and I must say, it's great that they did this type of animation. Because this anime involves on a teenagers life in school. By making it realistic, they made the animation much more mature. As you can see yourself. Many people has given low ratings only because of animation which shouldn't be ...

I'm confused is this good or shit?
The review is only of the first episode and I’m intrigued. The art style is really unusual it’s not good by any means of imagination. I fell like everything they do is the opposite of any other anime I’ve seen. It’s slow but I actually want to keep watching. It’s so creepy that I actually like it but it’s so bad that you have to be a masochist like me to watch and like this anime.

    Expectations expectations.
I watched this without reading the manga and I really liked the ambient and rotoscoping technique and I thought it fits that ominous and creepy feeling to that story. However, people were hating this probably because they read the manga, which is shoujo style, and expecting the show to be animated purely based on the manga. You might think the anime is low budget but if you pause and look at the ...

Read the Manga and Watch the Anime. Compare.
    * I have read 43 chapters of the manga before I watched the anime. *

I'm here adding my impression of the first episode. Just like I said, I read the manga before watching the anime. I see the tags on crunchyroll and it had horror on it so I wanted to see if it had horror. I read all of the chapters that I could find and I enjoyed it. I couldn't wait to watch the anime. It doesn't have horror ...

  • I very much enjoyed this series
What captivated me about this series is the style and mood of this anime. It is very different from most series that are put out and although I still like them, it is a refreshing change. Sometimes I want him to do the right thing but I root for destruction and inner turmoil at the same time. The music is great as well. I would love to actually read the Flowers of Evil poem to be able to better ...

  • Atmospheric trhiller about everyday insecurities
Schoolboys little mistake eats him inside and leaves him insecure about everything he has ever known.
Story is in slice of life style and there are no supernatural elements in horror side. Series manages to create hopeless and lonely atrmosphere which is even more effective because of the realistic portrail of school life. Atmosphere is more even uderlined by uncanny artstyle and haunting ending ...

  • Dragged Out, Intense
I enjoy the different areas the Anime genre can explore; the stories to be told in this medium can be anything from a cutesy love story to introspective psychological mind game.

Flowers of Evil is the latter, bringing up true desires and feelings compared to what is expected from the world. I wanted to stop watching this anime due to the amount of emotional turmoil it causes but that was ...
