    A modern psychological roller coaster.
Getting past the art is completely worth it. I appreciate the animation style, but if you get used to it, you get to enjoy one of the best psychological thrillers of anime produced in a long time. It's gripping, mocks japanese culture and society, all while creating an original atmosphere to anyone who's ever experienced the angst and pressure of the common teenager. The character development is a ...

  • Dark and atmospheric
Flowers of evil is nothing less than a masterpiece. The storytelling reminds me of Natsuo Kirino's best work. Enter it with an open mind even if you don't like the animation at first. The bleak colors and rotorscoping are deliberate artistic choices and really ad to the atmosphere of the story. The pacing may be slow but the characters are real personalities that grow on you. This gives some ...

  • Flowers of Evil is a breath of fresh air
Flowers of Evil is incredibly unique. Give it a chance! A lot of people are turned off by the rotoscoping, but after a few episodes you realize why this art style is chosen- it synchronizes great with the dark, tense atmosphere and greatly adds to climactic moments throughout the storyline.

This is a very unique anime and a lot of anime viewers are turned off simply because they are too young ...

  • Heavy and Twisted but Still Realistic
Despite the mediocre ratings I'm glad I gave Flowers of Evil a chance. The story is heavy, mature, and a bit twisted; brave and far-fetched but not unrealistic. You know what you want to see, but understand from real life experience why it's not so easy. The art direction and music is on point as well.

    Amazing-Fresh-New-*Must-watch*
Amazing anime in terms of story and art. It reminds me so much of Japanese cities and their people. I can't wait to go back. This anime is certainly for a more adult crowd who love a psychological thriller that is full of reality, suspense, and drama. Sadly, I'm certain that most individuals who rated this anime badly, were expecting quite the opposite...maybe less realistic art, big eyes, ...

  • It's nice to have something different
I like lighthearted stuff, I like action stuff, but it's nice sometimes to have something that's just...different. Flowers of Evil is different, and that's a good thing.

I like the artwork, people focus so much on how characters are depicted, but look at the backgrounds, the details....this is really well drawn, and the characters are more...lifelike. The art and characters match well. The ...

Macaulay Culkin in "The Good Son".
The Home Alone franchise consisted of movies that made Macaulay Culkin a superstar but have you watched the infamous movie, "The Good Son"? It stars an older torcherous Culkin and ironically reflects the torcher of Macaulay's career and life.

Flowers of Evil is The Good Son's twin sister.

The Good Son features your favorite childhood star, Culkin, doing very mean things to ...

Didn't like the animation at first, but it has grown on me
Having greatly enjoyed the manga, I was really looking forward to this anime. The first episode however made me think that everything was ruined forever. I hated the animation style, it reminded me of cheesy 80s animation like Fire and Ice and Heavy Metal, which while not at all bad, I did not think had a place in anime. 4 episodes in however I have changed my mind, and I actually think that if ...

When emotion, story and details in movement TRUMP the usual anime character design
This is NOTHING like the manga. If you can't get past the manga, stop reading.

This anime adaptation is on an Edgar Allen Poe level. The beauty is in the uglyness of the art - in the movement of the characters - where plain meets breakthrough in movement, and grasps of the concept of reading subtle emotion through simplistic rotoscope art. The beauty is in the story line and the poetry ...

i dont know why but i feel as if this anime is going to get somewhere.
Different type of animation style but it adds on to how much of a different anime this is.
I think that the anime is not going to be one of the best animation's i saw but i think it will be ok.
