Fresh and heavy, an oddly perfect combo!
I remember picking up a copy of the manga at a Barnes & Noble a few years back and thinking "how... why... what?!" It was such a disturbing account of adolescent tribulation that I could barely get through the first volume without grimacing. Of course I wanted more.

Now that the anime is out, I await every Monday with a newfound enthusiasm. The atmosphere carried over well from paper to pixels ...

You know how you hope the manga translates well to anime?
So, you know how you hope that the manga translates well to anime, and usually they do a pretty decent job? Well, sadly, that is not the case with Flowers of Evil. Rotoscoping can be done really well, or it can, well... turn out like this. Aside from that, it just didn't ... work. I don't know if I'll bother watching more of this, which is sad, because the manga is interesting!

    Flower of slownesssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Its a bit slow but something i like about it. And then some things i dont. How can explain with ought going into to much detail. It reminds me a bit about my self and then it doesn't.

He is the big lover boy caught or maybe part of a triangle of drama created by his inquisitive nature into his growing need to have a main aqueez

Amazing! Must try if you want something different!
I've just watched episode 1. It was fantastic!
Ignore people telling you not to watch it, give it a go.
It ditches typical anime direction for something new and unique. The episode has a pervasive feeling of dread which is reflected extremely well in the art direction and the music.
The rotoscope style is unusual and off-kilter, but it's animated well and brings the mundanity of the setting ...

If you are looking for a different kind of a sureal anime...
I am a newly converted anime watcher. I like unique styles. I was surprised to see rotoscoping (look it up) in an anime. I think that this really does not classify as an anime though considering the drawing technique is over live acting. Should be called a unique dark drama. I can see where people true to the manga could get pretty upset. After all the characters look nothing like the manga and it ...

What is This? Why do I Kind of Like it?
It was much slower than most shows of any genera I have seen. The protagonist has sucky friends, but that is cohesive with the rest of this poor kid's life. Throughout the whole first episode I was thinking "come on demon powers, I want some dragons and robots!" I think there is some kind of magic in here, but who knows? The animation style was fluid, but not detailed, probably because it was ...

    I'm hopeful but unsure
After one episode I found this anime to be disturbing enough to keep me from being bored, which is surprising because very little happens. I also dislike the way the people are drawn, and the way the backgrounds (although stunningly beautiful art) are static and repeated.
However I am reading a different manga by the same author, Oshimi Shuuzou, and really enjoying the psychological pressure put ...

An Intriguing Experiment that Isolates Fans of the Original Manga
First off, let me say that I am a fan of the original manga series. If you're interested in reading a good psychological, coming-of-age comic, please go buy the "Flowers of Evil" manga series published by Vertical Inc. in North America RIGHT NOW.

Second, as a fan of the source material, I feel frustrated by what the anime adaptation turned out to be. The character designs look horrendous, and ...

    "Unique" doesn't translate as "good"
If the animators were going for unique and different, they nailed it. But, that doesn't mean that it is good. And in the case of this anime, it is REALLY NOT GOOD.

Being a fan of the Aku No Hana manga, I tried to watch and enjoy this adaptation. I really, truly tried. But, when you get right down to it, this anime is just plain terrible and ultimately unwatchable. From the horrible ...
