Great show if you like mythology and folktales!
If you are like mythology and folktales you are going to love this show! Do not judge this anime by his cover! I know that is easy to think that this show is "just for kids" but that doesn't that you as an adult can enjoyed. Each episode contains 3 short tales and the animation is slightly different each time. There are two main actors (a male and a female) giving the voices to most of the ...

  • Relevant, Enjoyable, & Entertaining
I just got started on this series earlier yesterday, but boy am I hooked.
These folktales still pertain so much life lessons that we could all still learn from, despite whatever age we may be. I really enjoy how each story has a different animation style and pacing.

  • What wonderful stories with good morals
These are stories that are not only great for kids, well great if they are good with reading subtitles or can understand Japanese, but also for adults. I'll watch an episode sometimes before going to sleep - the story telling style is great, and these could be used as bed-time stories also

  • Folktales with a kick!
This series is probably one of the most culturally enriched shows to bless CR. With each episode split into three individual stories, you can guarantee you'll walk away learning something.

Being an avid history and myth-otaku myself, many of these stories are loosely based around real stories handed down through the ages. Do not be fooled by the idea that this is for children, as some of the ...

Wonderful tales packed with Wisdom, for young and old.
These short 3 tales-episodes are simply great for young and adults.
We are Pagan parents and the material out there is so scarce (or non existent) that we are ecstatic our children can actually watch cartoons! showing people being helped by the Shinto Gods or the Buddha, and learn how Honesty and Hard Work always leads to a honorable happy life.
Yes, every single story has its moral, so even ...

  • Amazing storytelling experience
These are classic fairy tales told in such a beautiful, children's book way. I am really quite in love with the whole thing. They cover 3 fairy tales an episode and often that is all you need for the roots of our storytelling past.

Some of the stories and characters are quite repetitive, but some of the antics and differences between versions of stories are quite genius. I really enjoy the ...

    Funny and Educational
While learning about the culture of Japan through folktales, you'll notice how funny some of these episodes are. I watched a few with my family, it had us on the floor laughing. The music is also very good. Great show for the entire family!

Reminds me of Manga Nihon-mukashi Banashi
Back in time, there was a show called Manga Nihon-mukashi Banashi (まんが日本昔ばなし, old story of Japan) which had similar premise of telling folktales. Unfortunately, that show was cancelled on 2006. (the show had long history, it was on the air since 1975.)

While it looks like Foltales from Japan is done by completely different set of staff (and different station) I feel like it carries same ...

An excelent way to connect with japannese culture
Me and my child just love it since the opening theme until the end. The drawing and the language are used properly to a wide audience. I didn't like much the Spanish translation, I just preferred English one.
