If you are using IE, hit F12 and change the document mode to IE 9 standards.

I am an Amazon Kindle Fire user, and I have not been pleased with the Crunchyroll app lately. First of all, a few episodes I've attempted watching have simply not played after clicking "No thanks" when offered the 2-week premium trial, as if watching them was not even an option. These episodes include several in Ano Hana, starting with episode 5.

Further and even more frustrating, the Crunchyroll app for the Kindle seems to have been updated, and is now incredibly inconvenient and difficult to use. My queue is completely gone, and searching my options (which also seem to have largely disappeared) revealed nothing, not even a mention that I ever did have a queue. I signed out and back in, to no avail. Once I found the episode I was searching for, I found that my place had not been held, and both the ad and the video itself took twice as long to load as usual.

In the end I wound up wasting all of the time I'd set aside to watch a video on just trying to get the app to work properly. This has been my experience the last couple of times I've attempted using the app. When I first downloaded it, I enjoyed my experience and had few complaints. It's just not the same, now.

I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but there is no stickied topic for Kindle users, and I am apparently forbidden from starting my own topic to ask for help unless I have a certain number of points.

I like Crunchyroll very much, and would be far more likely to consider getting a premium account if I were more sure that I would not be paying for an incredibly frustrating experience. As of right now, I would really like to know how to deal with these problems so that I can continue to enjoy my experience here.

Ano-Hana episode 5 and on are, as you can see here, restricted for premium members only, so yes watching them without premium is not an option. The same could probably be said for the other episodes which acted the same way.

For reference, what version of the app are you using?

Version is 0.6.5.4817

I searched topics using the word "Kindle" and did not find that topic. I apologize.

I think it would be a good thing if the app would notify me upon trying to watch the episode that it is restricted to premium users. The way it just refuses to play without any obvious explanation would lead most people to assume that there was something wrong with the app, not that actual restricted use is in place.

It is just grouped together with the other android devices is all. I don't have a kindle myself, but I have read that it is supposed to be the same app as on other android devices. If that is the case, the version in the amazon store is out of date. This would conform with what I have heard in the past and with how it is using the old logo. The current version in the google store is 0.7.9. You best bet would probably sending support a message asking for an apk.

Well currently you are logged in, but I assume you mean a different time when you are not. It isn't always accurate about people being online or not. Give it a couple hours to try to correct itself.
