I was raised bilingual in English and German, and I've been learning Japanese as well for about 16 years, so I would say I'm fairly fluent in it. I also know bits and pieces of other languages; I can understand Spanish and Italian pretty well though I suck at speaking them, I can understand simple conversation in Mandarin Chinese, and there's lots of others that I know some vocabulary and basic grammar in. I'm currently trying to learn Swedish and Tsalagi!

Long story short, I love languages! ♥

wow, nice! i only know Portuguese, barely enough English to get by and some Japanese to read easy manga and read in-game notices/story. i wish i knew German, but it seems like a very challenging language (but also a fun language to troll people with - if i can trust the rabbit). i understand a little spanish due to similarities with Portuguese, but a long shot from being anywhere near fluent, same with italian. Russian is another language that intrigues me - it's used by Anastacia from Cinderella Girls (the VA actually studied the language abroad in Russia prior to taking the role, and her Russian skills "sounds" legit)

Absurdo! I would say your English is very good just from reading your reply!
For what it's worth, German is a bit easier if you already know English, since English is a Germanic language.

Can't remember if I answered this before but I do speak French. I was once also able to speak Spanish and Italian fluently but with no practice outside of watching a movie here and there I doubt I can even hold a conversation in either language at this point.

Minimal specks of French (high school era back when dinosaurs ruled)

Michigan -- Indiana mumbly grumbly (derivative of English language where subjects usually wear "chips" on both shoulders -- aka attitude maladjustments).

Latin: pervasive language aka dead language that killed a lot of Romans & now it's killing me....

I learned German for 2 years in die schule (in school), I know very basic Latin phrases, and I am self-teaching myself Japanese.

For anyone who thinks they can't learn Japanese because it's too hard, let me be clear: from someone who has been studying it for a year, it's not that hard at all. Hiragana is like an alphabet and is quite easy to memorize, and even if you don't know Kanji, you can still communicate with people purely in Hiragana.

The Kanji is the hardest part, to be honest. Them Chinese moon runes and all that.

English and French.
My town is 50/50 French and English and I was in French immersion from grade 1 until grade 12 so you'd think I'd be able to speak it perfectly, but my French isn't the greatest.. still good enough for me to be considered bilingual though.
