So I've grown up with the long running anime in my childhood (YYH, Naruto, Bleach, etc), and I've have seen a good deal of good anime that have come out in recent years (HxH, JJBA, Parasyte, FMAB, etc). Right now, I've been going through Fairy Tail for 2 reasons. One is because I wanted something to take a while to get through so I could let MHA and Boruto mount up episodes I haven't seen. The other is that it still sits really popular on here and I can be a lil basic with some good shounen (MHA <3). Now though, I'm not really sure if it's worth continuing or not.

I put a fair amount of time in for FT though don't get me wrong. Episode 73 was the last one I finished, but this show hasn't really made much of a "change." I mean sure, Natsu and Lucy are getting stronger as time goes on, but every other aspect seems pretty meh. I'm fine with a slower development of characters and the like since it's a long show but it
feels too little of a change even for that.

My biggest issues with FT are the lack of long term or permanent consequences and the overly strong "power of friendship." People are getting ragdolled by these ridiculous attacks and the antagonists says without fail, "Oh? You survived that, huh?" Characters are acting like they are about to die just to get up panting hard the next episode. I'm fine with that happening somewhat, but this happens like every 13ish episode season. The power of friendship is killing me too as it happens probably more than the "coming back from the supposed dead."

I was just going to try and gut it out, but there's no point to doing that if it doesn't get any better. I heard spoiler stuff about Natsu's legit origin that made me want to watch in the first place, but the road there is a long and arduous lol. I want opinions on if it will get better or not. If not, I can go watch some decent seasonal anime, make myself a lil trashier by actually watching Eromanga Sensei, and then get back to stuff that interests me.

No one is stopping you, so it's up to you. As for me, I only watched FT for comedy, after that, I got over this series. It just doesn't have the qualities to be top-notch adult animation comedy.

I was asking because I wanted to know if it got better. I'm a patient person and can wait if I know something good is awaiting me, but Fairy Tail isn't one I can just keep cruising along without a change in sight. When I stopped watching Bleach years ago because of the Bount Arc, I saw the Ichigo v Ulquiora (prolly butchered the name) fight that was hundreds of episodes in and I plowed through just fine. It's just at this point in the series, there's no real stakes.

I'd say yes it does get better, but I like Fairy Tail so take that as you will.

No. In that aspect it just gets worse and worse and then someone manages to top that. Go watch watch My Hero Academia instead. Or Blue Exorcist, Soul Eater, Seven Deadly Sins, Hajime no Ippo, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (2012), D- Gray Man, Noragami. There are a plenty of better uses of your time and even plenty of way better Shounen.

No. I watched until the 2014 part, and I totally regret it. Not worth your time. I agree with A_RandomGuy and his suggestions. Have you tried One Piece? I paused where I am in the anime in order to catch up to the manga. I'm pretty much up to date with it and I love it! Pretty much all the characters have cool back stories!

Brother, I don't know if I have the will to start on something 700+ episodes in lol. I agree with his suggestions though and I have seen most of those (with his pic, could've sworn he'd put JJBA up first lol). The main thing I wanted was a break from My Hero Academia and Boruto so I could binge on it, especially since I read up nearly up to date on MHA's manga. I appreciate the tips.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure very nearly became my favorite anime (HxH is all I personally have over it). My Hero Academia is essentially a shounen boner and I love it too lol. I think I'll check out Hajime no Ippo since I've never really watched a sport anime, and I'll watch your other suggestions that I haven't seen. Thanks!

Those of us who love ft are in it for the feels. I can't believe u had all these problems with ft when bleach did these aspects way worse.

I'd say quit. Ft is all about the feels, and not at all about huge power gains.

Dude, I've seen a good bit of anime, and Fairy Tail's "feels" are pretty basic, no offense. Bleach I watched for the fun of it, so iffy power creep didn't matter too much. Fairy Tail arcs follow nearly the exact same pattern every time which was killing it for me. Bleach was nowhere near as bad as FT on the power of friendship, overly repetitive arcs (even though some sucked), or non-existent stakes. I wasn't expecting a HxH or JJBA out of FT, just something decent to watch.

Well this sounds just a bit on point with my experience with Fairy Tail.

I heard/saw manga spoilery stuff about Wendy Marvel, her character, her fighting ability etc.

And about 78 episodes into Season 2, I'm having regrets about my life decisions.

Then again, I've also dropped both Naruto and Bleach of my own accord as well. Maybe I just have a problem with the hugely-long shounen series. lol

If ft's feels are basic, can u recommend me some animes with the same feels besides one piece? I've been looking for an anime like ft!

And well, bleach had maybe more than 30 episodes total where Ichigo would fight one hollow. . . And that would be the whole ep, without any addition to the plot or anything. Ft never did that. Almost every ep contributed to the plot, except for that juvia love potion episode, but there's only like 2 of those or at best 4.
