Is it safe? I mean...for fun, I could see why...

There are some people who should not be allowed to own guns, and probably kept away from pointy objects while we are at it.

Of course it's "100%" safe. It's not like anyone has ever been killed by a stray bullet fired from a gun at a random direction before. ![]() |

Yeah, the odds of unintentionally hitting someone are low, but it certainly happens: For example, a 13-year-old died in Chicago about two months ago while playing basketball. A bullet someone had fired into the air happened to land in his head. Because they were out of earshot of the gun, witnesses apparently thought he'd had a seizure until the hospital found the bullet.

Weird, I remember an episode of Mythbusters were they tested the terminal velocity of a bullet and found it wasn't fast enough to cause serious damage. So I rewatched the episode (#50) and it turns out that is only true if the bullet is fired perfectly vertical. So meh, nm. |

But if you fire it such that it follows an arc and maintains it's bullet speed then it can still be dangerous. Although it's important to keep in mind that the chances of such incidents happenings are extremely low even if they can happen. As for this "Fire at hurricane" thing. I see no problem as long as they don't shoot at people or towards populated areas. It's not like the hurrican can throw the bullets back to kill them and even if some idiots shoot directly up terminal velocity of bullets isn't lethal. Sure it's dumb but like the guy said it's about releasing "stress and boredom". Who doesn't do dumd shit sometimes when they are bored and stressed? |

We Floridians don't tell you how to live your life, so don't question what we do with our lives. I mean look at us, you have hundreds of thousands of people wanting to wait out what is potentially one of the most devastating storms to hit this state, because "they've seen worse".
The news is going to be a boring place without "florida man" doing crazy things after all the "florida man"s are caught in this storm. Stay safe out there everyone in the South East. |

This just in. Ex-Florida Governor Clinton Tyree has had himself lashed to a high rise bridge, apparently in order to experience the hurricane first-hand.
