Jk I don't need help, but I DO wish I was an 80's/90's kid. I really love the music, movies, and just overall culture from those times. Any of the oldheads on CR wanna go back? (Of course you do! I hope..)

Favorite things about those times? Like any media or just the general zeitgeist of the time?

Watching the Black Mirror episode "San Junipero" and binge listening to as much 80's music I could whilst procrastinating on my homework is what spurred this forum into existence lmao.

You should check out the book Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. It's basically 400 pages of 80's nostalgia masturbation.

I was born in '91, and while I certainly had fun as a kid, I'm pretty glad to be done with it tbh. I'm not sure what I'd do if I had to get my anime from VHS tapes and I'd imagine it would've been awful to find a good anime/manga/light novel. Though I suppose it was nice to have to go outside to hang out with the neighborhood kids.

One thing I'm very much thankful for was growing up playing video games during that time. My cousin gave me his NES with a bunch of games and while I didn't get into it hardcore at that point, I was very much interested. Then my friend showed me his N64 and I ended one, then a year later buying a PSX as well.

My cousins grew up during the 80s though. And frankly I'm beyond thankful I wasn't born earlier. I already feel beyond old at 26 and I'm still in college so I think I'd be super depressed to be where I'm at right now but being 30 or something lol.

'best part about the 80's no SJW's, and people went out and did things, instead of having their phones glued to their faces.

I want parts of several decades. Music from the 90's was preferred for me. Gas was cheapest while I was a Junior in HS, in 97-98, got down to $0.77 a gallon. I played tennis every day and loved it, along with the freedom.

In the 80's, I feel we had better leadership, though I was too young to know this.

In the 0's, nothing but bad things happened in this period....except I started flying more as I joined the airlines in this time. Oh, and I really got into anime in this time, so that is a plus.

In the 10's, I started actually dating occasionally. I wish I was more aggressive in the 90's, and had my current job back then, they made a ton more! But I'm sure whatever woman I ended up with would divorce me and I would lose it all, because that's what women do....so I guess, would also like the dating and morals of the 50's....though that is way before my time too!

Put that all together, and I would be happy.

I would never recommend that anybody goes back to the 1980's or the 1990's.
It seems to me that this generation is the most nostalgic out of any other generations to date.
The 90's were not anything special.
The 80's was filled with synthetic music that all sounded the same.

Can we not just forget these 20 years never happened in human history?
That'd be great, thanks.

Gotcha! Thank you! I heard about this because of the movie that's being made but I had no idea what it was about lol. Ought to check this out and JoJo's since that is all just references to old stuff.

I want to live in a cyberpunk society, but with the culture of the 80's and 90's. Weird combination but as a technical "Millenial" I love my tech lol. Probably can't have both but a boy can dream.

Grew up in the 80's and 90's was very different. (born 84)

Don't remember much of the 80's, except for Jem and My little Pony.

It was the 90s that I reminisce about. the days that we took whatever we could get in anime when it came to the states. from what I remember is the mid 90's that it started to get popular. I didn't really care what it was so long as it was Anime. Sci-Fi channel anyone? Back when they aired it on Saturday afternoon. it blew my mind that something like that would be animated and also no one really cared about the content. "If its animated, it must be for kids, right?" sometimes I wonder what they were thinking when they aired some of thos movies.

And also how different Sailor Moon and DBZ were so different than American cartoons. Especially cartoons for girls, we we very limited and there was hardly any plot to them. Thats why Sailor moon and later Escaflowne and Cardcaptor Sakura really hit home with me.

Video games were a lot more fun too. The day my brother came back to visit with a PSX and Final Fantasy 7 blew my mind. (Another gift to the states from Japan). He got me one and I got to spend hours of bliss playing FF Tactics and FF9.

I also loved the 90's fashion and music. I really got into the grunge rock that my older brother listened to.

00's were an interesting time, too. but with the internet, the thrill of the hunt for anime and Manga was gone with the widespread availability of the internet. But at least we had a lot more to choose from.

It was a different time but I cant say I wish I could go back. Because you'll just be living the same life as now. Go to School and then get a job and go to work. Dealing with family and daily life in general. Its all the same. But you're right, the past few decades were interesting to look back on.

I don't really remember the 80's because I was only in it for the last couple of years. The 90's were great. I loved growing up in the time. I feel like we are so spoiled nowadays. Anime was hard to get for me in the 90's and video games too. How the times have changed. lol.
