oh yes, I sure do miss the good ol' days of ignoring people by reading newspaper instead of with phones!

I'm p sure there was always SJW. At least they're trying to do some good in the world... unlike racists, sexists, and others...

But no, the best part of the 80s was the music.

The worst was definitely the hair

Basically no you don't. Not everything was like Blade Runner in the 80s.

I dunno, I distinctly remember Rutger Hauer breaking my fingers. Wait, that was a football injury...

I want parts of several decades. Music from the 90's was preferred for me. Gas was cheapest while I was a Junior in HS, in 97-98, got down to $0.77 a gallon. I played tennis every day and loved it, along with the freedom.

In the 80's, I feel we had better leadership, though I was too young to know this.

In the 0's, nothing but bad things happened in this period....except I started flying more as I joined the airlines in this time. Oh, and I really got into anime in this time, so that is a plus.

In the 10's, I started actually dating occasionally. I wish I was more aggressive in the 90's, and had my current job back then, they made a ton more! But I'm sure whatever woman I ended up with would divorce me and I would lose it all, because that's what women do....so I guess, would also like the dating and morals of the 50's....though that is way before my time too!

Put that all together, and I would be happy.

I want to live in a cyberpunk society, but with the culture of the 80's and 90's. Weird combination but as a technical "Millenial" I love my tech lol. Probably can't have both but a boy can dream.

Do you listen to retrowave at all? Check out groups/musicians like Robert Parker, Futurecop!, Trevor Something, Robots with Rayguns, Waveshaper, Com Truise, etc.

Also watch Turbo Kid. It is pure gold.

Otherwise I'll only say that 80s-inspired nostalgia is a lot better than actually living during that time. Trust me on that. I'll stay right where I am, thanks. :)

I suppose one good reason to go back to the 80s would be to borrow the plot of Terminator and stop Harmony Gold from wrecking Macross for western audiences.

You wouldn't even be watching anime on VHS. You'd at best watch it on TV and then that's it. Maybe watch Voltron or some re-run of Speed Racer or something. But once it passes you just hope it comes back on TV.

Thank goodness this was all slightly before my time.

But in the 90s the situation was mostly the same until about the mid 90s.

Like for instance watching Akira or Princess Monoke or Dragon Ball Z... it basically had to air on TV for most people to even be exposed to it.

I lived in NJ so I could just hop on the path train to chinatown in NYC and buy anime from the underground markets. But it definitely wasn't nearly as practical as it is today with sites like CR, Netflix, or Hulu.

I cannot imagine going back.

Sci-fi conventions: always a great place to get VHS anime.

But the point is valid as for watching anime; it was not a good time.

Move to Daytona Beach. The entire city is 20 years behind and stuck in the 90's.

I wish I was alive from 1950-2010 everything just went to shit after the 00s. I love all the old decades and haven't even lived in them, I'm a mid 90s baby though so still got to experience the gaming world developing, Pokemon, and have a rather valuable collection of Pokemon cards but DAMN I wish I lived in the 80s too

the cartoons, shows, movies, music, Japanimation was still hand drawn.... the golden years was in the 90s with Bill Clinton, everyone from that era knows the plug regarding the blue dress, but otherwise it wasn't all that great over all. had less violence, terrorism, Reagan... but over all it was better than now for the most part than what we're facing now. people were nicer, no cell phones, people interacted more...

The 80's & 90's are only appealing due to the nostalgia, In ways it was a better time to be alive as opposed to today but in other ways today is way better then back then. I remember being bored a lot more back then, and that's the thing kids today wont realize, to me we live in the future, Food, Entertainment and all forms of pleasure of any sort are only a button press away. I have a saying "Memory lane is a dead end" It's nice to look back on but I sure wouldn't want to live there anymore.

During the 90's where no ipad and iphones yet,

I have Tamagochi!!!

But tbh I dont't want to go back to either 80's or 90s. Dont get me wrong it is a good era, and life is simpler. But IMO, today is still better.
So becareful what you wish for

Being born in 83 I don't remember much of the 80's other than Aqua Net Hairspray and all the women in my family having huge puffy hair lol.

Ah, the stack of VCRs whirring. The collective maisma of body odor from all over the state. Nonstop Mountain Dew jitters. That was a good time.

Yeah, I'm just fine here in 2017.

I was born in 93 and it couldn't probably be any better year for me, nor the following years to come. While i'm not a fan of 80's, i still like to go in the past by listening many of the songs from that timeline.
