You can also just do a cardio and toning workout routine whilst watching whatever you like as long as you have room (push that sofa/chair to the side). My favourite idea is to read when on my bike which is attached to a trainer. When the weather's good then I'll just take that bike outside and go cycling on the local nature trail.

I have been on a quest for the last year and 1/2 to lose a pot belly. My cardiologist had been on my case and my appointment was coming up so I ate nothing for 3 days but water, and did a tremendous amount of yard work for the 3 days. The day of the appointment, I had gained a poiund. I complained to the cardiologist that I don't know what the rules are anymore. Eating less and excercising more weren't working for me. He sent me to a Metabolic center. So, I get about a pint of blood taken out of me for blood tests. Turns out I have low thyroid, low testosterone, and insulin resistance. My basal metabolism was 80% of normal, and I was deficient in leg muscle. So the cards were stacked against me. So, if you have insurance, get yourself checked out before beating yourself on the head.

So the CURE was some thyroid medicine and a low carb, high protein diet, coupled with an exercise program. The exercise program started as just walking, with an emphasis on keeping my heartrate at 70% of max. It varys by age so just google it to find out your own. That is the fat burning zone. If you go above that, your body has to make other arrangments for fuel, maybe carbs, maybe muscle. So, don't just set your treadmill at 3.5mph. Monitor your heart rate and pick a speed that keeps you at about 70% of max. I tried watching anime from my treadmill, but the thing makes the devils own noise. Headphones helped, but not completely. I also just couldn't focus so I gave up on the treadmill. I use a stationary bike instead which I specifically bought for its quietness.

So here is the thing, the fat burning gets you part of the way, and then all progress stops. Your body adapts. So then you HAVE to do strength training to build muscle and get your metabolism back up to snuff. The treadmill and bike aren't going to help with that. I ended up doing yoga for 3 days a week. On off days, I can practice some of the positions, particularly balance positions, while watching anime. It may not look like it, but yoga requires a substantial amount of strength. I feel like death warmed over after a session.

Another thing. If you have a low thyroid issue, it is extremely likely you are not making enough stomach acid. If you don't make enough stomach acid, you can't digest protein. If you don't digest the protein, some organism in your gut will, and that organism might not be your friend and put out a toxin that makes you feel bad. I use to become unbelievably tired after eating lunch, so tired that no amount of coffee could revive me. I started taking stomach acid pills with my high protein meals, and that stopped happening. That only took 5 decades to figure out. I started losing weight reliably once I started taking the stomach acid pills.

If you are capable of watching anime up-side-down. Lay on your back against the wall (even on your bed will do) and perform bicycle legs or leg spreads up / against the wall while watching. WARNING: Blood rushing to the head may result from this as well dizziness. So do this ONLY AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Niotabunny said it best about the eating habits. Its not really a "diet" but a lifestyle change when it comes to the eating habits. Don't bring the bad stuff into the house and that controls the junk food consumption. I also don't buy that stuff because I'm spending more money I don't have on buying it. Its just cheaper without buying chips, cookies, and soda. I've since used that motto to cut out sugar, butter, oil, and alcohol. I've become accustomed to living off of brown rice, veggies, and lean proteins like egg white omelettes and chicken on occasion. Although it sounds a little extreme, diet wise, It was a gradual change over the past year and a half.

Like the OP said about the treadmill, I used to do that too when I had one. I'd spend at least 30 or 45 mins on it while just watching Anime or TV. Now I just go walking on my breaks at work. Either push the two 15 min breaks to one 30 min walk or walk during my hour lunch. Since there is nothing else to do there, it passes the time and gets a good workout in. And walking is an easy way to get a work out for the unmotivated like me. I prefer it this way so it doesn't cut into Anime and TV time when I get home. As soon as I walk in the front door, all motivation to do anything goes right out the window.

Small gradual changes in eating habits and 30 mins of walking 5 days have worked for me. Lost 50 lbs and counting. It might not work for everyone because some of the other posts have stated medical issues as a cause, but give it a shot.

I'm with you, OP. My apartment complex has a small gym, so 4 days a week I download some stuff on my tablet's Netflix app for offline viewing and watch while on the treadmill or elliptical. I watched both cours of Little Witch Academia that way.

I suggest intermittent fasting. Just don't eat or snack or consume calories for a large portion of the day. Only eat in a 6-8 hour window.
For example: You wake up at 10 and at 11 you start watching anime or playing games until 5. After 5 feel free to eat up until 10 pm. This will significantly drop your body fat%. I went from 238 down to 187 in a period of 3-4 months. Fasting is proven to be healthier than eating 3-6 meals daily throughout the day spread out.

You can Drinking-Game, or you can Exercise-Game, which one will help you feel superior to cliche's and live longer?

Me, I have to do a half-hour of exercise for some physical therapy I'm going through, so a 20-30 minute Theraband workout, divided between two segments of a half-hour Viz Sailor Moon episode I'm still trying to finish the DVD boxsets for, gets them done in a flash.
After finishing the last boxset, found my backlog queue of CR worked as well, although usually just the Cardcaptor Sakura dub if I wasn't facing the screen.

I use a treadmill at home and watch Crunchyroll anime on my iPad. At 2 mph I can do 1.5 miles while watching two 24 minute episodes. It gets you energized if you watch Eyeshield 21 while walking, what with all the running down the football field.

Or alternatively you could live my lifestyle in which you eat dangerously little amounts of food and simply reply with "I'm not hungry." when asked if they want anything. Passing out on the floor is totally how I intended to sleep, my lifestyle isn't dangerous at all.
