What is Isekai?
It basically means "another world" you know? where the main protagonist is either summon or somehow brought into another world, most of time with no explanation why they were brought to this new fantasy world. That's Isekai for you...

Some examples are:

Re:Zero

No game No life

Konosuba

The rising of the Shield Hero

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation\

High-rise Invasion

Just as long as its original and brings new things as well entertains me. I'm happy with it.

I'm alright with it, it's nowhere near my top viewing list of anime, but I'll get there eventually sort of thing. once it's too repetitive or contain things I'm not interest in, I'll venture to spoilers or fast forward just to clear it out of the way.

I enjoy it. Not ALWAYS, but Re: Zero was an amazing Show; incredible drama. This Season's Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. is more of a Slice of Life take on the genre, at least in MY mind The latter isekai is much more of a Comedy, which is fine for what it IS...While Re:Zero was among the greatest 'all around' Anime to exist in quite a few Seasons/Years.

I also adore Log Horizon! <3

Isekai's been used as a setting for waaaay longer than its current popularity boom.
It's honestly an incredible and easy to use platform to build good stories and interesting characters on. It's just that for some reason recently, for every good original concept, there's a shitty wish fulfilling one to match it. For every strange and well executed idea I see, there's one that's just an overpowered genre-saavy 15-30 year old in a kid's body cruising through life because he was blessed with super unreasonable magic.

There's no conflict. There's no personality. The manga/anime exists for poor reasons. And yet, I still have to read them all anyway, just in case it does turn out to be gold.

Familiar of zero was a pretty good Isekai and probably one of the reasons I enjoy the genre so much
