I don't know if you'd call this a discussion thread. I'm just pumped to see CR is adding one of my favs to the library.

Why was this on your favs list? I'm curious because the premise at least looks interesting. Out of this batch its the only one that isn't blatantly aimed at teens with raging hormones lol. I might just have to take a peek.

One aspect is liked of this series is that it felt effective at conveying the alien aspect of the two main characters. From one moment to the next, they felt like lovers, mother/daughter, or sisters. It didn't take long for me to realize that was intentional, as our concepts of relationships might not apply to another species.

In addition to what TheAncientOne said I like that the series challenges our concepts of identity; not just between the two mains but Kurau and her father and Kurau and herself. I also just really enjoy Kurau. She's a very well-rounded character who draws you in. She carries the emotional moments and action scenes equally believably. The story covers a lot of ground, literally, but feels tight and well constructed.

I admit I've got my nostalgia glasses on so I'm probably forgetting any "bad moments".

Great series. I can't watch it on this site because of regions but I watched it on DVD a few years back and found it very captivating.

Never heard of it (that I remember, anyway.) The premise is interesting and the animation is gorgeous. Thanks for pointing it out!
