Since I currently use a bicycle to go everywhere. I do not have a car.

I was wondering what kind of bike everyone has and what you use your bike for.

I just got a new bike, I'll post a picture of it. It took me around 2 hours to pick it out because I'm awfully picky. Almost ran over a few kiddos while test riding them.

My bike: Sidewinder Schuwinn

I also notice that most people who go to my college use the brand Mongoose bikes, I'm wondering if theyre a special brand because I was pretty close to buying one although I notice they did not have shocks on them.

Shocks are basically:
Bicycle suspension is the system, or systems, used to suspend the rider and bicycle in order to insulate them from the roughness of the terrain. Bicycle suspension is used primarily on mountain bikes, but is also common on hybrid bicycles.

I knew I had to have them because I like to go up curbs and without them the landing is too rough.

Also just for my satisfaction I wanted to discuss the bike rack hoggers:

Why do people do this? They take up an entire rack so everyone has to helplessly try and find a spot.
Are you a bike rack hogger?

I have a 25 year old Trek mountain bike. I use it for recreation and short errands. Nearly bought a new bike about ten years ago, but after test riding several models couldn't find one I liked better than the one I had, so I kept that. I ride a few times a week during the summer when I have time and the weather is nice. I work on an academic schedule and don't have as much time for it during the school year.

I once had a super sweet mountain bike but then it got smashed by a rain coat wearing monkey. God I miss that bike so much!

Tho I've heard that my underclassman has one super similar to the one I once had, man she's lucky...

i have a huffy alpine mountain bike, and i use it to commute to and from work when the weather allows it. I take it for a ride on the weekend just for recreation usually as well so i ride the thing almost every day. its alright nothing fancy. i'm the only one who rides to work at my job so we don't even have a bike rack, i just attach my bike lock to a post outside work, honestly even that probobly isn't much of a deterrent it would be easy the take off with it with the proper tools but i guess every little bit helps?

I do bike tours, and it gets me around town when I'm not travelling.

My bike was stolen last year and I was going to get a new bike, however, because I have a car and a few other reasons, I still haven't gotten a new one.

I think my dream bike is one of those fancy ones, like this:

1. You picked a cool bike.

2. Mongoose bikes are just mass-produced bicycles that people buy because they are affordable and available everywhere.

3. People think their bike is harder to steal when attached to a rack in this fashion (even though they are just as steal-able).

Congrats on the new bike, cars stink anyway.

My bike got too old, broke, and was unable to be repaired so I got rid of it.

I have one of these in purple, but will probably have to sell it soon. Bikes work great here in Portugal, but I'm thinking of going back home permanently and even if I could take it with me, I'd never ride a bike this nice (chance it'll get stolen is way too high)

If I saw a bike like this in a rack, I'd take it to pieces and sell it.
