I haven't seen them all yet, so I thought this would be a good way to promote people's favorite studio Ghibli films for those who haven't seen/heard of them.

I am a big time Studio Ghibli fan, I suppose my tops would have to be Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery's service, Grave of fireflies, and Spirited Away.

couple lesser favorites are Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro and The Cat Returns.

In all honesty I believe I've seen them all and own a lot of them

Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, The Cat Returns, Porco Rosso, and Grave of the Fireflies are some that I liked. When Marnie was there was also nice.

At this point, you can purchase a bunch of the Studio Gibli movies in box sets at an economical price. There is no longer any excuse for not seeing a bunch of these iconic movies

For me, it's always going to be Kaze no Tani no Nausicaä (Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind). It was the first I saw, and no other Ghibli film - although there are many other wonderful ones - has ever had quite the same impact on me as that one. And it's not just nostalgia, I can watch it today with the same sense of wonder that I did as a child.

I've probably seen it as many times as Star Wars. And although I don't normally watch dubs, Lord Yupa remains my second-favorite role of Patrick Stewart's. :)

A very close second is Kurenai no Buta (Porco Rosso). I've always thought Ghibli is best when Ghibli is flying, and I love this damn pig and his grumpy nobility.

Can't close without mentioning Majo no Takkyuubin (Kiki's Delivery Service), which is the first anime I showed to my son when he was small, and he has loved it since. He's 17 now, wants to be an aerospace engineer, and still watches it. I'll probably give him a DVD as part of his graduation gift.

They are pretty much all great, but Porco Rosso is easily my favorite. Kiki's Delivery Service is a close second.
