Hello, I'm just giving my Feedback/Suggestion.

I pay the same as rest of the world. Yet. I'm so restricted that using proxy would give me more access to the website than what my premium account gives me.


And just FYI. I'm not Saying I am using Proxy, as you can see. I have premium Account. I'm simple stating that I get more benefits doing something than pay.

So seriously, why are americans so special snowflakes?

I'm considering cancelling my sub as of now as well.

While to my knowledge CR has never disclosed what percentage of users and subscribers are from each country, sites that sample web traffic typically show just under half of traffic to CR coming from the United States alone. It is a good bet that the percentage of people that actually subscribe in the US is even higher than other countries, for the very reason you complain about.

Licensing anime isn't like buying commodity goods off the shelf. It isn't a case of a fixed amount of cost per viewer, regardless of where they are. Licensors expect a certain minimum amount for it to be even worth their time. The US & Canada is a rather big licensing block by itself, especially when compared to say Europe, which despite having a greater overall population, is rarely offered as a single licensing block.

Their is also the issue of some titles not being handled worldwide by the same division of a company, and those different divisions having different views on streaming. For example, Toei seems to have little problem licensing for streaming here, but Toei Europe is rather notorious for being mostly averse to streaming. Likewise, Aniplex seems to license here only through Aniplex of America, which licenses only for at most the English speaking countries and the remainder of the Americas. Beyond the UK & Ireland, that is left up to either a different division the main company, which doesn't seem that interested in licensing for streaming. Around the beginning of 2015, it seemed that any title that wasn't licensed by AoA simply wasn't going to be available to this hemisphere.

I've seen people from time to time claim that they are "subsidizing" anime licensing for the US (and always forgetting Canada gets the same benefit), when in fact the reverse is closer to the truth. Without the big pot of money the US subscribers (and to a lesser extent, ad-watching viewers) contribute to cover the minimum most licensors expect, CR would have fewer titles available to viewers in other countries. If anyone wants to argue otherwise, I challenge them to point out one "home-grown" anime service outside of Asia that offers more titles than CR does to that country. Anime Lab, servicing Australia and New Zealand seems to be among one of the more successful ones I am aware of, and it appears to get only a handful of titles each simulcast season.


Library titles add another layer. There doesn't seem to be much interest from home video distributors in other countries working with CR, whether it be due to having their own service (like Madman Entertainment in Australia & New Zealand) or apparently be disinterested in streaming (like Manga Entertainment in the UK). Meanwhile, in the US, there are a few companies that don't have their own streaming service but do see the benefit to it for promoting their titles, like Discotek, Media Blasters, and even NIS America. That's all before last year's partnership with Funimation was taken into account. It also doesn't hurt that since these companies are in the same country as CR, it makes working with them easier.
