Greetings..

With October fast approaching, and All Hallows' Eve being my favourite day of the year, I think it's time we share our experiences with the occult; whether they be spine-chilling confrontations, mysterious happenings or out-of-this-world encounters. If you don't have your own stories to share, consider sharing a good one you've found elsewhere, in text or hyperlinked video.

If you can't find a good story and lack any of your own, then consider this a good spot to dump occult, horror and or Gothic related images and .gifs.

Try to refrain from posting images wider than 700 pixels, please.

Discussing Occult / Gothic anime is encouraged as well.

Did my scary story make your heart stop?

I lived in a very creepy house in the stereotypical horror film type neighborhood, where the house had creaking wooden steps, a creepy basement, and an actual stray cat that lived in our attic/walls. At 8/9 years old, I was home alone for some reason, and as I was laying in bed, I started to hear a string of voices. A young girl's voice whispered, "Come downstairs." And an older man softly said, "Come have fun with us in the basement." I, of course, being the smart cookie, didn't move a fucking inch because I don't fuck with ghosts. I switched on my TV and my flashlight that I had, and swaddled myself in my blankets with my Naruto pillow.

Now, before someone says this is BS, let me explain something. The ghosts, voices, whatever, sounded like really creepy, very clear cut white people. My dad is black, and his gf is Hispanic, and they sounded NOTHING like that, and I know for a fact they can't make voices that talk in my head. It wasn't a dream, it was some fucked up stuff going on in that house. If I ever remember the address to that place, I'm going to buy that house, then burn the shit to the ground. So. Damn. Creepy. That was my only paranormal experience though, and I never wanna experience something like that again. Now, at 17, I hate the dark and I have to shine my flashlight into dark rooms before I enter. And watching Perfect Blue recently didn't exactly help me with my anxiety of thinking something/someone is watching me. Yes, I'm a pussy. No, I don't care.

"I don't fuck with ghosts"? You're missing out.

Here's how it went:

My door is set up so that nothing can move it an inch without me knowing it, at least while I'm inside.

So one night, sometime around last year I think, I had what seemed like a vivid dream of sex with some sort of female ghost. It had the appearance of a dimly white female mannequin; the face featureless, with very long hair of no particular style. Around it was a glowy aura, and despite being glowy, the room wasn't illuminated. The opposite of a shadow-person, essentially. It almost looked like it had skin of glass, full of neon gas. It didn't feel like a glass person, though, and it made absolutely no sound. Sparing other delicious details, when I woke up the next day there were a few really long strands of hair on my legs and on the bed sheets. I mean really long.

So either A) I fugged a spectral lightbulb, B) I fugged a ghost, C) It was just a dream followed by elaborate coincidence, or Z) I willed a minuscule part of my dream into reality.

She didn't come back though. Ouch!

Lived in an old farmhouse built in 1860's. The house and the entire area around the house was haunted, including the barn across the street and the barn in the yard. I couldn't sleep well or I couldn't go outside at night because it felt like someone was watching me . And it sounds crazy but I could tell when a ghost was in a certain room because the little hairs, not on the back of my neck, on one small area of my lower back stood up.

There was one morning when my mom woke up five minutes before my alarm went off, which she did every morning to get the fire started. She was going down the steps and the third step from the bottom she fell. Five minues later my alarm goes off and make my way down the stairs carefully feeling where each step is...the third step from the bottom I fall. We both felt like something had pushed us, and later that day I learned she went to the emergency and found that her ankle was close to snapping.

You know that scene in a horror movie where the girl in the shower sees a shadow go across the shower curtain? That happened to me, and I even asked both my parents if they had come in to quickly get something....they didn't and none of our pets did either.

I could tell you so many more stories about that house, but one thing I knew for sure was that I hated that house. I always felt paranoid in or around that house until I got to town, then I was fine.

Was driving home after a 14 hour shift last month.

Was about 6am. Dark af. Anyways, on a hill and see a ball of light in the opposite lane about half a mile down moving slowish. Weird country back roads. It was floating about 4 feet off the ground. I figure it's a motorcycle, but I couldn't hear the engine. Shut my high beams off, expecting it to be some weird reflection. Nah, it was still there. Got close to it and it just passes me by.

Not really scary, but it was kinda weird dude.

You know that reminded me, back when I was ~ 13 I was running down the stairs late at night. My feet slipped, my head ducked far forward and suddenly it felt like a massive hand grabbed my torso, which stopped me from falling head first onto the hardwood floor. That whole area, and only that area, went numb while it happened. Could've been adrenaline + reflexes, but it is what it is.

Feel free to post as much as you want about your old house. I don't really care if someone posts a few times in a row, so long as the stories are different it's all good.
