Strange! Amazon steps into anime behind Prime! Annoying to say the least!
What is hidive? Replacement for diasuki?

HiDive is a replacement for TheAnimeNetwork. They have a large library of Sentai catalog titles that aren't on CR (three big ones relevant to me are Clannad, K-On, and Azumanga Daioh) and they offer Sentai's simulcasts in some regions outside North America. Here in the US, they only simulcast what Sentai gets that Amazon (apparently) doesn't want.

They also have Sentai's English dubs. They released the English dub of Monster Musume week by week over the past season, that was fun. (And they're dubbing the OVAs too, they come out tomorrow and next week)

Amazon split off Strike from prime video in January.

Seemingly, Prime subscribers in Canada and "unlisted territories" have been able to watch Strike shows as a part of Prime Video without paying the extra $5/month?

Yes, as Strike doesn't exist outside of the US, Amazon's anime titles are part of the regular Prime Video subscription anywhere else.
For most countries this doesn't include any of Sentai's titles though, so it's generally only about 2 or 3 simulcasts per season and, at least in the Netherlands, the back catalogue is really small and most titles can also be found on other streaming services.

You actually mean just US, international streaming is most likely going to be on HIDIVE

@Doublethree1 I was actually planning on watching some of them on HiDive, but CR generally offers a better viewing experience. Currently HiDive on Android has a bug where audio suddenly drops to around 30%, then back up, and I've been advancing my bookmark by typing the next episode number into the URL, because on Android auto-continue is broken, the continue play button/link doesn't work, and the list of episodes beneath starts at 1 instead of starting where you are (which means a lot of scrolling when you're on episode 20)... although it starts where you are on PC. Rather than address these issues with the mobile website/player, they say they're focusing on developing their apps, which I think is reasonable and wise. I signed up to help beta test their coming Android app, so if I get an email about that then I'll resubscribe and do it. A month ago I sent them 8 paragraphs of thoughts on how they could create the best anime app interface (a chunk was about mimicking VLC's swipe controls).

I've had less issues with android HiDive than I've had with android CR - guess different regions are having different issues . The interface is... Not ideal I agree though the content makes it worth it for me. It's full of stuff not available elsewhere in the UK and they do get UK the Amazon Sentai simulcasts.

In the USA, it's exclusively on Amazon. http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-1001735/fall-2017-simulcasts?pg=2

[Umaru-chan season 1] was licensed by Sentai. You shouldn't have expected CR to get the sequel in the first place. (Food Wars S3 is just an exception, not the rule)

That's the thing, in the years that I've been a subscriber to this site (since 2009), not getting a sequel is the exception. The only time that I can remember being disappointed with the lack of a sequel on this site was the third season of Dog Days, although Crunchy did get the rights to the third season in some regions. In the past, it has generally been a given that if we had previous seasons, we'd most likely get the current season.

TheAncientOne wrote:
Probably the earliest incidents of CR not getting a sequel related to Funimation, as the latter got the simulcast for Is This a Zombie? of the Dead and Tantei Opera Milky Holmes 2, while CR was denied. (Well, technically, Milky Holmes 2 probably had more to do with the Funimation/NicoNico.com partnership of the time than Funimation itself).

The first sign that we shouldn't count on sequels for Sentai licensed properties was when despite CR having Rin-Ne and the second series, the 3rd was denied to them, and could only be found on TAN and later HIDIVE. Frankly, at this point, CR getting a sequel of a Sentai-licensed property is the exception rather the rule, which is why CR not getting Himouto! Umaru-chan R shouldn't have been much of a surprise, while CR getting Food Wars! The Third Plate was.

Amazon getting Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul (which otherwise would have certainly been licensed by Funimation and shared by CR) also showed that sequel sniping wasn't going to be limited to just Sentai-licensed titles.
(emphasis added)

@Skode24 Interesting One thing that has been better for me on HiDive than CR is the saving of progress when my wifi connection cuts out (which is fairly rare). I think the audio problem may be connected to the stream quality auto-shifting as the wifi signal fluctuates, but I need to test that out more (by locking it at 480p). I'd absolutely stay subbed to HiDive if I lived in the UK And there's plenty more I want to see in their catalog.

And once again Europe gets told to **** off when it comes to Digimon with no communication from Crunchyroll or Toei as to why and we have to wait till next month to see part 2 in any format. this is beyond unfair.

Not much going on this season at least for my interest and it makes me sad - at least in terms of CR. Compared to the rest of the year thus far its the weakest. I may pick up just one... and I qued it, but we'll see if I even watch it.
