They always add more boxes, and there's a ton of anime coming out this season As TAO said last season:

The number of boxes will increase, as it always has.

For example, they started with 16 boxes last season (2 more than this season), but had 40 before mid-April:

Really? I've never noticed this. I can go back and check summer's boxes now. I usually only check them the first two weeks or so, so thanks for the heads up! We'll see how much changes this season.

n00b question:

I'm still not sure how the licensing thing works, so stupid question a'hoi:

According to this link: https://myanimelist.net/news/52493397

both CC and Wakanim has the rights for Code:Realize and Ousama Game the Animation. And since it says that Wakanim has the rights for the nordic countries (Norway incl. where I'm residing) is it safe to assume that CC cannot gain rights for the same territory?

And furthermore: every anime picked up by CC and Wakanim will only be available on the latter (for me/nordic, that is).

AFAIK CR (and by CC you mean Crunchyroll?) or Funimation hasn't said anything about the regions for those titles. I hope Funimation/CR still has the license for Scandinavia for the Funimation titles.

But we didn't get the special for Love Live! Sunshine!! S2 and I'm met with a "Sorry, due to licensing limitations, videos are unavailable in your region." - and it's missing from the lineup page (though still no news about regions for the actual season).

HIDIVE and Wakanim Nordic had a few overlapping titles last season (Princess Principal, Love and Lies and one more I think), so maybe we will still get it on CR? We should get an answer the day before/same day as the title will air.

TLDR: we have to wait until CR/Funimation lists the regions.

It frustrates me that people demand CR that CR should announce titles as soon as they are confirmed, and when they do, people forget that CR even did so. Anyone guilty of this really has no right to complain about CR announcing some titles only a day before or the same day their simulcast begins.

100% agree with you on this

Monster Hunter Stories Ride On? Huh... interesting situation.
https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1666388

So as you probably know, Monster Hunter Stories Ride On was on break last week but we didn't get new episode this week either. I decided to see what's up on crunchyroll's site and it doesn't look too good.

"Due to licensing issues, we do not know when episode 49+ will be available. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your support."

Series is going to be longer than previously planned and it seems that crunchyroll has lost its licence. They had rights to stream first 48 episodes but anime isn't too popular and they might not get upcoming episodes. It's similar to the issue with Puzzle and Dragons X. Crunchyroll had bought rights to stream 38 episodes but studio decided to prolong anime due to its popularity (mainly in China). We got identical "licensing issues" notification, it's been 6 months since episode 38 and we have yet to see episode 39.

"Lost its licence" is poor wording... "doesn't have a license for new episodes going forward" would be more clear.

yeah its really disapointing to see your favorite show is going on and we cant see the new episodes. :(
but i dont know how much money i would cost the get the license for 49+

yes, the abbr. was supposed to be CR, not CC, don't know where that came from.
Hopefully Wakanim doesn't snitch the nordic rights from CR, but continues the way it looks now, picking up the rights for shows that anime strike and hidive has secured for US territory. But yes your tldr.

Garo: Vanishing Line is a TV Tokyo title so CR will get it

TV Tokyo is not the publisher for any GARO titles. GARO (both anime and drama) series are published by Tohokushinsha. The primary channel it airs on is Star (a satellite pay TV channel), which is owned partially by Tohokushinsha.

(1) It seems more likely than not, since Wakanim in the past has not had a lot of shared titles with Crunchyroll inside their licensing region, but ...
(2) it is not guaranteed, since if the licensor insisted on a shared streaming license or nothing, then it is conceivable that Wakanim has an exclusive over the first week but has to share the stream after that.

Anime Strike's full Autumn lineup has been released http://www.animenewsnetwork.cc/.122213

So that means all the remaining series are up for grabs on either CR or HIDIVE

They got Yuuki Yuuna due to Amazon's deal with MBS to exclusively stream Animeism shows, which Yuuki Yuuna is part of, and Sentai licenced Umaru-chan, so it was obvious they would licence season 2

Hmm... as ANN commenters pointed out, that list leaves out My Girlfriend is Faithful Virgin Bitch (I keep calling it that because it's a much better English title than "Shobitch"!), which (as you posted) Sentai announced would be on Strike.

http://www.sentaifilmworks.com/news/sentai-filmworks-licenses-my-girlfriend-is-shobitch

Probably just an error by Amazon, but man, if that show were on HiDive, I would keep my sub through the season just to watch it.

(Whereas I'm currently planning on cutting it off for now to focus on my CR catalog queue - Little Busters Refrain, Hanasaku Iroha, Shirobako, Pet Girl of Sakurasou, Log Horizon, Maoyu, AKB0048, Tsukigakirei....)

Just so you know the ones I left are all on HIDIVE and should have the home video versions so you'll see any animation fixes (don't think any of these shows were censored)

@Doublethree1 I was actually planning on watching some of them on HiDive, but CR generally offers a better viewing experience. Currently HiDive on Android has a bug where audio suddenly drops to around 30%, then back up, and I've been advancing my bookmark by typing the next episode number into the URL, because on Android auto-continue is broken, the continue play button/link doesn't work, and the list of episodes beneath starts at 1 instead of starting where you are (which means a lot of scrolling when you're on episode 20)... although it starts where you are on PC. Rather than address these issues with the mobile website/player, they say they're focusing on developing their apps, which I think is reasonable and wise. I signed up to help beta test their coming Android app, so if I get an email about that then I'll resubscribe and do it. A month ago I sent them 8 paragraphs of thoughts on how they could create the best anime app interface (a chunk was about mimicking VLC's swipe controls).
