They forgot to make the characters the least bit likeable.

Yeah i haven't warmed to the Crew very much.
I am liking how this Star Trek is violent though, way more than it has ever been. And they swear now! F bombs and all!? lol

Annoying though, the typical feminist shit and the token gay (male) couple.. No really sexy big boob girl either

I did enjoy the latest episode though.

I only watched the first 2 episodes. It didn't really feel like Star Trek.Or I should say it didn't really feel like the prime timeline. They should have had this be part of the kelvin timeline tbh.I'm just going to stick with the Orville, which is far superior imo.

I think it has gotten a bit better since those first two episodes but i do know what you mean. About the time line and a sort of lack of Star Trek feel. But yeah as i said, it has gotten better.

I haven't checked out the Orville yet. I will eventually.

I'll give it a chance. Don't really care that much about race and politics, it's a damn show in outer space. I suppose it can't be much worse than Voyager though I might be proven wrong ..

I mean Star Trek has been a lot to do with politics in some ways as far as being diplomatic and being progressive and tolerant, the prime directive, negotiating, trading, alliances, etc it's only really annoying when it feels like political views or ideologies and agendas are being pushed in as you said, "a show" that we watch to escape the real world.

Anyways, yes it can! lol it can and it is.
Nar i mean Voyager was fairly cringe and cheesy at times and it was more of a soap opera than a sc-fi it seemed at times. But i remember liking it more than i like Discovery.
BUT, discovery is as i said more violent and more swearing and so far dose not have any of that soap opera stuff in it.
Iam not sure if it eventually will have stand alone episodes, romances, friendships, episodes that focus on other people rather than just the Captain and the 1st officer, etc.

EDIT: I did check out the Orville. Just the first two episodes. Pretty cool. Very much feels like Star Trek, particularly the music.
It's an interesting show. It half just seems like a complete parody but half seems like a serious show. Like it has moments where its just silly (intentionally) but then moments where it feels like it isn't just a spoof.
I find it pretty strange that there is a new Star Trek and a Star Trek parody both running at the same time.

I've been thinking about venturing in the new series, but after I heard they dropped the f bomb (possibly twice) I'm thinking about waiting it out. same gender couples don't scare me, and the likes, but I see no purpose in language to carry something (nor nudity or sex). but I guess I'll get around to it eventually, no rush. maybe netflix might get it.

haha not sure if serious or sarcasm? But i mean to each their own.
They actually did it in a funny way though, by the way. It was meant to be a funny moment in the show. It wasn't like trying to be cool or bad ass or anything.
Its not common(haven't heard it since that scene). You'll be glad to know that there are no sexy characters.
Thats one reason i like the Orville, it has a very sexy foxy lady in it. Something we usually get in Star Trek but they chose not to give us one in Discovery

EDIT You better not watch it, there is a scene with the Captain where he is topless (in the latest episode)

I think he's saying the main character is a piece of fried chicken.

Good episode same idea as a TGN episode when they keep repeating the time over and over
