Episode 0

And here is an episode about Jupiter, which is the rival idol group from the original [email protected] series that was run by the shady producer Kuroi. Of course, the fact that they knew what being idols are all about better than that scumbag that things turned out well, but it wasn't always easy as while they gained a galaxy of fangirls, not having a production contract made things really tough. And here comes 315 run by somebody whose face is never shown just like with Kuroi in the original series, and initially they were nothing but stalkers. But they decide to give this startup production company a chance seeing that unlike with Kuroi, Saitou understands full well what the boys want and need to make it to the top. The Jupiter boys sure have grown since their appearance in the original series, and the fact that they want to reach the top the right way has made them better people. That was pretty nice to see Haruka talking to them, while some of the 765 girls were in the audience at that gig.

It was nice to see Jupiter again I actually liked them way more than I remembered, but what was really nice was seeing Haruka again. Anyways I enjoyed episode 0 and I'm looking forward for the series to continue onward.

The character designs, singing/acting, character writing, story writing, song writing, and lyrics are all technically good, but they just don't grab me.

The dance animation, though, looks really great - possibly the best I've seen yet, especially with the camera angles - but the choreography is sort of plain. I'd love to see this level of animation with more complex choreography.

As for dance animation, the only thing I've seen that comes close is Tsukiuta, but a lot of people might be bothered by the fact that it's obviously CG - not bad CG, but CG. It's really smooth, though, and they animate the faces well, and their costumes are more complex than these. I'd also love to see this animation with more complex costumes.

I...... don't know if I'm going to keep watching this, because the main group doesn't really interest me (though I love the center one's outfit), and neither does the song writing... sorry... (also... none of the really great singers are in this...?)

Also... company name puns, haha. (961 = kuroi = black (also means companies that abuse employees), 315 = saikou = greatest). That's a thing in this franchise, right?

i have been waiting for this for years really and the prologue did not disappoint me.
It was great seeing Alice or Guilty come back after so long and seeing Jupiter again and it just so hq all around.
all the 765 cameos were great to and i love the they completely remade that scene with Haruka too it was cool.

it just feels like [email protected]

oh i also noticed the choreography is almost exactly like the concerts (well and the game in Alice or Guilty's case) which i found really awesome.

Also since iv seen this misconception more than once Jupiter is not the main group this special just focused on them it's actually Dramatic Stars the three who appear at the very end.

im bad at explaining my thoughts but anyway im looking forward to this.

Hopefully it stays this good or at least close to it.

The prologue was rather refreshing for an idol anime. This is my first time seeing a group work without a production studio. Handling the role of idols and managing the logistics of their performances? That's quite grueling. The bonus effect is that it is very easy to root for these guys. Couldn't help but feel bad when Jupiter saw their neglected fans.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the origial [email protected]; only seen the Cinderella Girls. As such not familiar at all with Jupiter or the other idols. I might just pick the original series so I could have more understanding for these characters.

This felt a lot more like the original [email protected] And honestly, I would have appreciated a show about struggling independent idols more than [email protected]'s fascination with production companies. Going forward, much depends on how they the huge ensemble cast we know is coming down the pike. [email protected] itself did a brilliant job, Cinderella girls blew it.

This was pretty good. I've always loved the character designs for the [email protected] series, and oh my goodness, this looks absolutely gorgeous! It reminds me a lot of the original [email protected] series (not Xenoglossia), which I only saw a couple of episodes of ~5 years back.
The story seems pretty decent, so I hope the writing stays like this for the rest of the series.
This seems better than cinderella girls, at least (I did enjoy the anime, but the characters were so flat). And don't even get me started on the game (deresute). So many people like it, but honestly, I just don't...get it (they throw like 180 characters on you at once like wtf). I mean technically I would say that it's a good game quantity < quality in this case. I guess it's just not for me. Might try out mirishita at one point though, as well as the sideM game. They both look better.

It was really nice to see how hard they're working for their fans! Also, I loved the bickering between Touma and the president. I hope we get to see more of that throughout the series XD

The first regular episode is now up: http://www.crunchyroll.com/the-idolmster-side-m/episode-1-idol-with-a-past-749509

Episode 1

Here comes Teru, a freelance lawyer who has been struggling at his job, but the producer sees a lot of potential in him as an idol. He, along with Kaoru and Tsubasa are forming a startup idol group. They are having lots of trouble getting on the same page as Kaoru is on a completely different mindset then the other two. So they gather around and try to talk it out, and at least their chemistry is now passable. Teru still needs a lot of work with his dancing technique while Tsubasa needs to work on his voice, but they passed the first test. And thus, Dramatic Stars is born. Pretty nice way to start as it carries a lot of the charm the original series has, only making the idols guys instead.

I didn't expect them to show the producer's full face. Though I gotta say, he's pretty handsome, lol.
This was a decent episode, but I kinda felt the build up to Teru wanting to become an idol was a bit rushed. Though I really like Dramatic Stars' group dynamic. Though I think Tsubasa might be my fave out of them all.

I might stick with this just for the fact that the MC isn't a doe-eyed high school boy but a grown ass man!

Episode 2

And the gang's all here, well everybody except for Jupiter as they are hard at work. They take photo shoots, and everybody goes crazy with it. But on the day of their concert, it's stormy with a typhoon striking the area, and much of the main staff is stuck. But the idols step in for those guys and do the stage setup themselves. With that, the concert is on, and Jupiter has come to help out to complete the team. This is exactly what I remember [email protected] for being where concerts are threatened to be cancelled, but the idols make it happen.

So....um are they going to do actual live performances soon? I mean, they do way too much building up so far. I'd like to see how these guys perform longer on stage with some actual music.

I think this anime still has potential but haven't lived up to my expectations just yet.
