The unfortunate thing is that people's ideals of peace differ, so in this case I would most likely take zee money.

I'd create the billion dollars and devalue the US dollar, just for a laugh.

Your question may not be phrased in the way you intended.

Edit:

As a couple of people seem to be having trouble understanding my point, I'll copy the following response below.

Ha! It'd take more than a $billion to devalue the dollar. Be like Rick, just change a 1 into a 0.

It wouldn't be the billion that would devalue the currency it would be the idea that someone independent of the US government/Federal Reserve has the power to create large volumes of legal currency. It would send Wall Street into a panic.

I was perhaps being too subtle but the point I was making centred on the phrasing of the thread title. It is not a choice between creating world peace and receiving a billion dollars; it is a choice between creating world peace and creating a billion dollars.

world peace. It would be nice to not have to worry about money, but I don't need that much. Besides, world peace would make for more prosperity among the populace generally as war creates a major drain on resources and productivity overall.

Both my family and one dear friend of mine are in debt, so I'd take the money anytime. All lives are equally important in theory, but the lives of those I care about are more important to me than the ones I don't care/know.

I would probably pick the billion dollars. World peace feels more like an ideal to strive for rather than something that could actually be realized. For there to be world peace, people would have to accept the fact that others have different values and desires. Well, not necessarily accept, but at least don't do anything that would cause harm or escalate a situation to violence with another.

Look at people finding excuses not to take world peace lol. Seems like that kind of attitude probably isn't helping with that goal of world peace. Someone mentioned differences of definition. How about human beings stop murdering each other, bam, there you go. Worl dpeace. We don't kill each other anymore. Maybe we kavorkian people and some folks off themselves. OK, and accidents happen, of course, but people can no longer kill each other. Biggest grey area is how well do you have to take care of people's well being before you are effectively killing them. If you let people starve, that's like killing them, but what about if you exploit them for cheap labor and assure they remain impoverished? That'd be the tricky bit to define, but yeah...

World peace.

Obviously.

World peace may not be what I envision it to be. A billion U.S dollars however is too innocent, honest and naked for me to refuse.

If the ideal vision of world peace is possible I'd choose it, if you usher in world peace personally you're gonna get money and fame anyway

The money. "World peace" is one of those things that require a horrendous price to achieve, like sacrificing free will and individualism. Sure, a billion is far too much for me to want to deal with, but it beats "world peace."
