okay so it is currently live airing in japan (just started 3 mins ago) and I am trying to find out what streaming service will be hosting it, I read anime strike is but i checked and it isn't listed on their site, so it could just be a few hours but i would be surprised if crunchyroll who simulpubs the manga wasn't interested in streaming rights, anyone have input here? any other legal hosts aside from anime strike? I barely post these days so you can tell I have been waiting for this... also 18 hours till black clover drops!

I really hope this stays canon, if it follows the negima screw ups it wont be though....

As far as I know, Anime Strike and HiDive are streaming it in English.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2017-10-01/hidive-acquires-uq-holder-for-international-streaming/.122097
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-09-25/sentai-filmworks-licenses-uq-holder-anime-for-anime-strike-simulcast/.121850

Anime Strike's schedule is really inconsistent to expect their episode to pop up randomly. HiDive..I think it's after the airing going by UTC time.

The show doesn't appear until the first episode does on Anime Strike.

The first episode is now up on Anime Strike. This show is scheduled to air every Monday at 8:30am Pacific.

Episode 1

And it begins with some footage from the Negima series, and of course I remember that his sneeze is a call for fanservice. Evangeline is now a teacher under the name Yukihime as this vampire has outlived everybody at Mahora. Things have been tough for Tota as not only did the accident kill his parents, but now he's living without memories. Yukihime sure is OP, but she finally meets her match against a pro assassin. It turns out that Tota was turned into a vampire by Yukihime, and now he's putting his powers to use showing the assassin not to get in the way of his friends. That was pretty violent considering that the Negima series (both of them, though I'm not sure how it was in the manga that is very different) didn't have any from what I remember. It's good that it differentiated itself right off the bat in a big way.

Anyway, I like the homage it made to the original Negima series by playing an alternative version of the first series opening for its opening.

Episode 1

The episode begins with Evangeline reminiscing about her time with Negi and class. It has been 70 years since than and Evangeline is now a teacher under the name Yukihime and is the guardian of Tota. Tota lost his parents in a accident and has no memories of what they look like but the spirit of Negi tells him his waiting for him atop the tower. In order to leave the town they must defeat Yukihime no easy task but with the help of a professor Tota's friends almost succeed. The they didn't expect the Professor betraying them and knocking them out before going after Yukihime. Turns out he's a bounty hunter and used Tota to seal Yukihime's magic. Total manages to get there in time only to get his arm cut off and Yukihime is rip in shreds. As they lay there Yukihime reveals to Tota about his parents deaths and that she turned him into a vampire. After hearing this Tota gets up and gives the assassin a good beating for him and his friends. Now that Yukihimes secret is out Tota and Yukihime leave the town, but he will wait for his friends to catch to him.

I read the first fifteen or so chapters of the manga when it came out. Kind of felt the same way I did about the first episode. It's okay, but I wasn't really feeling the characters.

Lol, they didn't waste any time showing off the fan service in this anime. I mean, even the first opening minutes had the girls barely dressed.

I think the OP song is fine so far, nothing too special but works for this show.
They didn't take time to introduce Yukihime right into this season. I think the highlight so far of this episode is the character chemistry between her and Touta. I like her voice acting tbh, fits for her character.

I feel the comedy is a hit or miss right now. Might have to get used to it like the manga. Action was okay, felt like it's more of a tease to set up for the bigger things. The second latter of this episode gave me more interest for this show and apparently, it's not afraid to show off some violence.

Yeah, I'm definitely expecting this anime adaptation to skip around a bit.

Ohhhhhhhmygod...

Happy Material....

My childhood... such nostalgia...

that said, probably not watching the show past the opening... I tried the manga, it was cute... I like Kuromaru, but like... not anyone else. (And then I watched K, and Kuroh in K is that type, too, so... <3)

So I have a few big concerns, negima was an example of a poor execution of adapting a manga into an anime, they rushed things and changed everything past the first few episodes making both variations of the show (it was made twice because the first time was a failure along with the second, but the waifu following was still strong) and it had a completely random ending that was nothing like the manga (mostly because the manga wasn't finished at the time).

my concern is the following. I wont spoil anything for people that have not read the manga, but I will say the people in the shows ad image shouldn't be around into dozens of arcs into the manga, and what is more the apparition he sees telling him to go up wasn't even in the manga. so far the attention to detail, the quality of the animation, and the pacing is really good but it is only episode one, I am worried. How in one season will they bridge the gap of several arcs and introduce those people seen in the main ad image? and if they are not skipping arcs will this be a OVA version of UQ holder? or will it be a long standing shonen? UQ holder isn't the kind of show I could see making it as a long standing shonen so I doubt that is even a possibility especially with Boku no hero academia taking that role atm.

But I guess only time will tell.

I bet UQ Holder would have an original ending because the anime already tease the latest chapters characters introduction and fight. Plus the creator is not even ending UQ Holder Manga. I am already feeling that they going to skip a lot of material to catch up to the latest material source

Somehow, i knew (once again) that something bad would happenand sooner or later, it did. At least Yukihime didn't die. There's still more to tell.

When you think about how he's immortal, and his voice is going to sound like that for the rest of his life, don't you think they would've thought more about his voice?

Episode 2:

So Kuroumaru Tokisaka debuts in this show. I kinda expected the meeting to be fanservicy.

The fight between Touta and Kuroumaru got more intense than I had thought. Kuromaru is definitely not someone to underestimate given those moves. One thing interesting about Kuroumaru Tokisaka is that the character is genderless but does have a female VA.

Still a lot of fan service in this show. I kinda expected it since it's Uq Holder. (Yukihime in a towel...)
