Episode 2

And the life of fanservice begins for Tota as he meets a naked girl in the bath. Scratch that, Kuromaru is actually a guy and he's out to find Evangeline. Kuromaru has inherited Setsuna's swordsmanship and he's immortal. So the two battle as naturally sworn enemies, and Tota wins. As his demand for winning the match, Kuromaru and Tota become best buddies. Then it's off to the onsen where Yukihime is training Tota in the art of fanservice, while Kuromaru becomes her student. That was quite the change in atmosphere from the first episode as they continue their journey to the tower having picked up a comrade along the way.

Episode 3

And the UQ Holders have assembled. In order to fight them, Tota must land a hit on Karin, while Kuromaru gets Gengoro. While it looks easy these fighters are really tough. The two end up heading underground where Jinbei is waiting and there's a sword that Tota pulls out. It turns out that the sword can talk and that's how Tota pulled it out, while the weight of the sword's weight can be changed. In the end, Kuromaru lands a strike by detaching his arm to land a surprise strike to pass, and Tota was about to hand his on Kari until Shinobu gets in trouble. And then Tota lands his strike during the beast attack by powering up his sword and damaging her clothes in the wide-area strike. Pretty solid episode here as Tota and Kuromaru went through quite a lot in order to pass, while the other UQ Holders have quirky personalities.

Episode 3:

Seems like there's a lot of anime original content in this.

UQ Holder's members does live up to their reputation though imo based on the abilities they've shown so far. The part with Negima's flashback was kinda surprising to see. I wonder if we'll see a lot of those throughout rest of the season.

Kuro's tactic was rather clever tbh to land his attack. As for Touta, he's got a lot more to work on but he is improving so...the kid has potential. I really hope the next episode will be more faithful to the anime though.

Somehow I thought the premise was a bit more interesting before the whole UQ organization bit got introduced in the end of the last episode. This just seems tropey and cliché as far as storylines go. Personally I think I might have found the idea of three (and possibly more as the story progressed) powerful immortals traveling through a dystopian landscape helping various people while trying to keep their own immortality hidden would have been a lot more interesting than this. Especially if they were at the same time also being hunted by some other immortals. While hardly an original concept, I would have looked forward to the exploration of the dystopian world on their way to the tower. Instead I just get the usual secret powerful organization, the personalities within in it, and how our MC gains status and recognition. Not bad exactly, but nothing to get excited about.

Fun episode. Body dismemberment for the win – exciting tactic. But the CGI was just awkward.

skipping a fair bit to get into the meat of the series.

Think I like Shinobu's introduction from the Manga better. Motorcycle girl with dreams of participating in the Olympics is much more interesting than just "Maid character" Plus she has more attitude in the Manga, little reckless, bit of guts, strong will to achieve a dream everyone around her makes fun of.

Episode 4

Tota and Kuromaru have their first mission to back up Karin with her mission in an impoverished place, and all Tota can do is cook as he's just too impulsive attacking those guys in suits not realizing that they are there to help out, while he's terrible at arm wrestling. While practicing flash-stepping, he catches the attention of the martial artist Kaito, who trains him to use his feet for everything. It turs out that Kaito is one of the enemies Karin was sent to stop. And then one of the assassins attacks Karin in the shower with the Chamo censorship, while the town is set ablaze. While Tota and Kuromaru may be immortals, Kaito knows how to take them out and that's what they do casting a spell on Tota while shredding Kuromaru quickly that he can't regenerate fast enough. That was quite brutal.

Oh God, that censorship....hope they remove it in the BDs.

Regarding this week's episode, I have mix feelings. It felt all over the place with the humor and action. One thing is for sure though....Karin and their enemies are on another level so far with what they've shown.

Episode 4

Yukihime gives Tota and Kuromaru their first mission and that is to assist Karin in protecting the kids from the slums. While there Tota and arm wrestle with Karin and Kuromaru to see who would cook and Tota alway came out losing. Karin tells him if he wants to win that he should practice flash step and that is exactly what he does. While practicing he made a lot of dust and it bothered Kaito who happened to be around at the time. Kaito decides to train Tota in flash stepping and if he did a good job even train him. Well things don't go that way as Kaito is working with two other people to get rid of the slums and someone attacks Karin while she is showering and Kaito defeats Tota with ease. Kuromaru is the only one left fighting Kaito and the blind swordsman, and they know how to defeat Kuromaru by cutting him fast enough that he can't regenerate fast enough.

Episode 5

So Karin is the indestructible Steel Saint that couldn't bleed no matter what kind of torture she is put through. Just when it looked bad, these guys unleash their hidden powers as Karin used her special power and a groin kick turn the tables, while Tota transformed his arms to break the seal. So after all that, Tota and Kaito square off in a flash step battle, and after Kaito pierced his hart, Tota's ultimate power awakens, the Magia Erebea. After all that, Tota and Kaito settle things with an arm-wrestling match Tota wins, and in the end the mercenaries retreat, while Yukihime's ice magic takes care of the rest. Tota sure was freaky there, but nevertheless that's just the beginning of what figures to be a long-standing conflict.

It looked like Touta isn't even sure about his new powers so I doubt he can master it at the moment. Yet, he was able to put it to good use to survive and fight back against Kaito.

I'm glad they kept the blood and violence without awkward censorship (it was same as TV version).
Oh and Karin is as badass as in this anime as in the manga.
