Episode 5

This episode starts off with Kuromaru getting a beating since Tota is still under the seal. The one fighting Karin tells her how a girl in small town was the target of witch trial. They punished her and she wouldn't get injured or spill any blood. They even burned her at stake but nothing happened to her. One day she was taken from the town by a small girl who we all know. After hearing this Karin finally uses her true power and defeats her opponent. Meanwhile back with Kuromaru just as it looked like it was over for him Tota comes in after breaking the seal. He arms have power up and this new power lets him go toe to toe with Kaito but that isn't enough as Kaito uses his flash step at full power to pierced his heart. Instead of being Kaito's victory it awaken Tota's hidden power Magia Erebea who only two other people are suppose to have. With this he turns the tables and almost finishes Kaito for good but stops himself. In the end they decide to settle it with armwrestling and Tota wins in the end. After the battle Yukihime finally shows up putting out the fire and revealing her true self to the mercenaries which they retreat after seeing who they are up against.

A little disappointed that Touta displayed an OP forbidden power last episode, and during his "first mission" to boot. Pretty much made the fast-step training with Kaito pointless and every other future battle too.

Wait till they get to his immortality training, that is so much fun.

because being immortal is meaningless if you can't do it with style

Episode 6

Kuroumaru is taking Tota's sword to him since he keeps forgetting it and happens to see Tota with Shinobu. Seeing them together makes his heart hurt and starts questioning his feelings for Tota. After taking a shower Karin happens to walk in on him and discovers that he has nothing down there and he explains his situation. Karin tells him if he wants to figure out his feelings for Tota to pass off as a girl and go on a date with him and thats exactly what he does. While pretending to be a girl Kuroumaru goes by Kuryu and is supposed to be his cousin. He manages to go on date with Tota and this leads them to the tower where Tota has always been wanting to go. While here Tota is attacked by some mercenaries and captured. Kuromaru has to fight them as a girl and this leads to trouble as he is not use to being a girl. Realizing that he wants to be stronger to protect Tota changes back and is able to beat one as the other retreats. In the end Kuroumaru chooses to be a male but after hearing that his cousin is someone Tota would marry might think it over.

And yet another delay on Amazon for Sentai stuff, this one nearly a day late as I waited for an eternity to watch it.

Episode 6

So Kuromaru is neither a dude nor a dudette as until age 16, this demi-human is genderless. Now while Kuromaru is committed to being a guy, he tries being a girl and go on a date with Tota. But things go by the wayside when a couple of mercenaries try to kidnap Tota. Chao and Asura sure got their asses kicked by the guy Kuromaru, but the girl Kuromaru is pretty weak. Interesting episode there as it's back to romantic hijinks mode that Ken Akamatsu is known for. Next time, it will be about Kirie as she's just standing there not really doing anything.

Kuro looks more like a girl to me than a dude lol

I'm not surprised that Touta didn't figure out it was him in a blonde wig. He's a dense guy after all. That ending should be picking up the main story soon.

Touta seemed more into the male Kuro anyway. And Kuro should just choose whatever form they're most comfortable with because its not like his feelings would need to change.

This last episode sort of annoyed me after a while. I mean at first it just seems the normal silly rom-com, but then the stupid stereotypes become rather obvious. What was supposed to be the whole deal with Kuro's weak woman's body? It isn't like there aren't other women in the show who do perfectly fine with those bodies without being at all weak. Would the difference be that Kuro is on a date, so now supposed to be a romantic feminine woman who lets a man take care of her vs. the others, who I guess, aren't feminine romantic types? That stereotype bothers me, as does the "strong woman" who's just normally depicted as being overly aggressive. Neither have to do with femininity nor strength of character.

Episode 7

Here is Kirie, and her power is the same as Subaru's, except that she can set the save points. She went through quite a lot of playtrhoughs to get to this point. In the meantime, Fate has come to cause havoc just like what he did during the Kyoto Arc in the Negima series. Fate helped Negi out and has been hailed a hero, but now he's a public enemy. Of course, beating him won't be easy even with all sorts of knowledge about him. Should be an interesting fight coming.

Calling it now.

Fate is the most dangerous character Touta and his friends have met so far in this show.

Episode 7

This episode we are introduced to Kirie who has the power to go back in time due to save points she's made. She's already done it a total of seven times because Tota keeps chasing after the person that kills her. Finally the seventh time he grabs her hand is brought back with her and she explains whats going on. Turns out that Fate Averruncus is after Tota and kills everyone but Kirie who kills herself in order to go back in time. She lets Yukihime know the situation and makes a plan were they will capture Fate but things take a turn when he shows up with Tota's friends behind him.

I watched Negima Season 1 in order to try to understand this series better, but it ended up confusing the heck out of me. Chapters seemed to be all over the place. I feel like I will need to read the manga in order to get a better grasp of the story. UQ Holder seems like it is also suffering from the same case as Negima, but I am enjoying it nevertheless. It's nice to finally see a carefree and easygoing MC that is not annoying and embarrassing to watch.

Episode 8

The plan is put into action, but it fails miserably as they didn't anticipate Fate having allies, as well as two of Tota's friends also being there. But thanks to Kirie's trump card, they were able to reset time bringing Fate into the underground where Tota found his sword. In exchange for letting Fate go free, he will answer a question for each person truthfully, and as it turns out Negi is still alive somewhere despite Tota being told he is dead. Tota is needed for some plan to save Negi and the world, but he's not needed until 20 years later. Tota asks who killed his parents, but he didn't get a truthful answer out of Fate is it wasn't him that killed them, and while Negi knows the answer, Kuromaru cuts him off. Lots of mystery was raised here as all this time the truth had been hidden from Tota seeing that he's the key to something big.
