No new thread? Well the direction the show is taking is the same too. I don't feel any improvement or decline in any areas, but I have noticed how much I miss Risa Taneda with her extra saucy Erina channeling. For a while the new VA really made Erina look kind of wimpy, so it's good to see that part of Erina made it through a pretty pivotal part of her character development without seeming too fake.

It does feel like we pick off right where the last season ended, so not much so say yet. Except I found it dumb they were eavesdropping on the conversation through the tubes and were all yelling right next to the same tubes.

All right, back in the game. Finally got the answer i was looking for, and i'm satisfied with that.

Hype is still strong. Looking forward to see how Soma and the gang is going to survive this. Maybe, just maybe they can put an end to Azami's plans.

This episode was better than anything from the first half of the season, none of which I thought were that great. Hope they continue being good, I was thinking of giving up on Food Wars after the lackluster first half of season 3.

The frozen egg gives me an answer to a question. There's a Hannosuke tempura stall in the food court of a Japanese grocery here, and they do an amazing tempura soft boiled egg. I've wondered how it's possible to deep fry a soft boiled egg, and the ones there are very soft-it didn't seem possible. Now I know! And yeah, they are clothes flying off delicious.

Episode 14

It's off to Hokkaido for a tour of the place, and a series of exams under tough conditions as Azami is determined to get these rebels expelled. The first exam is to cook a salmon dish, and the rebels are given all the crappy quality stuff while the rest of the class got the good stuff with only until sundown to finish it. But that's nothing Soma can't handle as he came up with the brilliant idea to get the Tokishirazu salmon that had been preserved, which is out of season. So while they got all the fresh stuff, the thinking is to go outside the season, and Soma delivered with some help from Ryo and Alice. That was just a great start to this arc there, but of course that's just the first of many tough battles ahead.

Tsundere Erina.

I'm not fully caught up in the manga, but I always found it funny much tampering Azami and Central were involved with. Nothing says confidence better than rigging everything. His plan also reminds me of the movie Demolition Man in the sense of the "Food Chain Wars".

I like where this is going. It's been a while since I could say that about this show. After a pretty big slump in the direction of the show we finally get back to what the show is supposed to be about from the very beginning. Right away we see some new character interactions we haven't seen before. So far no new characters though, which is kind of disappointing. Strangely enough they seem to be pushing away from Soma and making Erina more of the main character for now. Will they keep this up for a while? I do feel that other characters are given a smaller role lately, especially Megumi.

More importantly, now the story opens up to lots of interesting possibilities.Watching Erina mope around last season was very uncharacteristic of this wacky show, it makes sense now that for a SoL to have it's good moments you have to have your depressing moments too. The show doesn't feel as linear anymore, about time the arrow pointed up for this one.

I feel like with all the rivals characters teaming together nobody can stand in there way the team is way to strong and resourceful
Soma has so much confidence in any situation the others catch his wave and ride it. Finally Erina is becoming the person she was in the beginning a top chef who takes risks for tastes

One thing that I've always wondered about this show. There seems to be very little teaching going on. It is just one sudden death cook-off after another. This isn't to say that I don't enjoy it. I think it is a very good show. I wonder what it would be like if Yukihara's father showed up and started teaching and/or running things

I wonder if the Big Bad is going to regret putting all of the finalists, semifinalsts, quarter finalists together on the same team?

Ye I was wondering about that? What is the point of a cooking school if they don't want to learn from their teachers?

The whitecoat mob characters want to learn from their teachers. The band of misfits is there to have foodfights and push themselves.

Iirc from the manga, these weren't exact directives from Azami, so much as Central loyalists doing what they think he would see fit. Similar to Eizan rigging the RS shokugeki.

EDIT: Watching this episode has me questioning it, though. I could be wrong.

Yeah literally everyone we can think of from first 2 seasons are in the rebel team minus curry guy. Not seen likes of the giant fella but OP confirms his loyalties too - like they've done this, you can REALLY vouch for the rebels as no matter who your fave is that fave is on same side as the other viewers faves too. You can tell this arc is gonna be hype!

Speaking of groupings - that Soma team is literally 4/5 best case scenario. Only the orange haired lass (though appreciate her finally getting screen time) is someone you'd arguable trade for Aldini or maybe even Nakiri secretary. (Yeah, I've forgotten most of the casts names lol)
