It's up to the new owner Verizon to tell us this.

http://money.cnn.com/2017/10/03/technology/business/yahoo-breach-3-billion-accounts/index.html

"The company recently obtained new intelligence and now believes, following an investigation with the assistance of outside forensic experts, that all Yahoo user accounts were affected by the August 2013 theft," Verizon said in a statement.

Thanks, Yahoo.

Oh well. I only use that email to verify IM services and the like. Well, I guess I have my Line account directly attributed to the email, but worst case scenario is that someone steals $20 worth of stickers from me.

If people don't use it, then they should at least make sure there's nothing in the account that any hacker could use

I assume all the unused accounts are empty?

That explains why I randomly went onto yahoo maybe like 3 years ago and I couldn't log into my account since I definitely used my old passwords from back then.

Also nothing wrong with staying informed.

I started moving my email stuff over to gmail. There's a lot of companies dealing with matters like this. My ebay account, for example, had randomly notified me of unauthorized use of my account (forced me to change password too) and a few days later my credit card information had been used at an obscure website that mediated transactions between people for in-game items notorious for tons of....drumroll...credit card fraud use.

Shit happens, just keep an eye on your assets. I sniped that fraudulent charge while it was still pending. Got a new credit card number.

As for the asshole who attempted to steal my shit:

I remember when my Yahoo Mail was hacked, back in High School. My Junior year English Teacher may have received a message with a seemingly lewd link.

Oh, the embarrassment.

Yet another good reason to adopt password managers. Stuff like this is exactly why I'm so insistent on using best security practices at work when it comes to our software.

She asked if my account was used recently, as she believed it was hacked. My perversion, while raging then, was kept under wrapped bandages.

Not sure though.
