You say it's Meh.

I say it's aMAHzing. Just a purely delightful show. Another series with some strong characters and character types so far. There is magic in friendships, personal growth and discovery, love and day to day life.

It's also a very pretty and well detailed show as well.

Other than Magus Bride this is the show I am looking forward to the most each week this season. And in my humble opinion that says a lot.

No, the mistaken gender cliche was obvious when the old foxes avoided using gender pronouns and Ren assumed Aoi was a girl seconds later. The differences in pronoun use between Japanese and English always reveal these jokes early in a show, if you know what to look for (perhaps even earlier than the production team intended for the Japanese audience to catch on).

Having said that it seems to be an enjoyable show so far.

It's not that I don't agree with all of that but every CGDCT moe show is about the same thing with the same types of characters, and at this point after seeing so many it takes more than the same old same old for me to feel like this isn't something I've seen before. And this isn't doing anything to distinguish itself besides making the characters fox girls, but honestly so many characters in moe shows have animal mimi it's not even that unique.

Well keep giving me more then and I'll continue to eat it up.

It's superior to most of these tryhard, grimdark shows this season or the cookie cutter battle shounen shows we always get with just a very few exceptions.

Good characters and character development drives show for me. Without that, what am I watching?

Well that was part of my original point, there really is no development, the characters are all set in stone archetypes. And while the stories are about discovering new things about themselves they're not really changing. And as in most moe shows it's only the wide-eyed innocent/naive MC that develops anyway, if the others did they wouldn't serve the sole purpose they are there anymore. Again sorry to keep plugging The Rolling Girls but that's what was so great about it not only do ALL the MCs show development most of the side characters do too ( of course that's not really a CGDCT show but a "road" show).

I disagree. This last episode alone disproves that. Yuzu wasn't even the focus of the episode. Ren was. Alongside Natsume and it showed how Ren is trying to grow and learn how to communicate how she feels instead of bottling things up. She showed a lot of emotion from dealing with the drunken oni-dude and his friends, to dealing with a feeling of being left behind and not the focus of Natsume's attention. It is all being done with her in baby steps.

Sure, Yuzu helped her in developing through this, but once again wasn't the focus. just like how in New game it is 100% Aoba's show, but all the girls have rich backgrounds and stories to tell. So, I don't see how you can say the "side-characters" aren't going to develop when they already are?

I am sure that the other girls will all have their time and development too.

I'm not saying the show is a masterpiece yet by any stretch. But it's taking a formula used time and time again and making a good and compelling story and show around it. i could care less about what comes before. As long as it's good now.

See but that's what I am saying, it could be development but she is there to be the cute fragile aloof doll and I guarantee next episode that's exactly what she will go back to being. She has to <matrix voice> that is her purpose . In-episode development doesn't carry over to the next episode.

Episode 4

The girls are dealing with an egg that is attaching itself to the girls. First Ren, and then Satsuki. After the girls had weird dreams, it hatches with a pig coming out of it. Then comes a pretty tough guest to deal with in Shino and as it turns out, Shino is just a doll that came to life for awhile, and she's just a substitute for the old lady's daughter that died young. And after bidding farewell, she goes off to be with her. That really was something.

I teared up a little in the 2nd half. I was not expecting such a moving story.
