I really want to see this.

And now that Max is gone, I can admit that I like Jibril.

Wait, its in theaters? Damn, missed that. Wonder if I could still get tickets...

The English subtitled version already played on Thursday, however, the English dubbed version will play in select theaters on Sunday October 8th. If you don't mind watching it dubbed, you still have a chance ti see it on the big screen.

See the below link for theaters showing the movie Sunday:

Just type in your zip code and it will show nearby theaters showing it.

EDIT: just noticed you are in Canada. There are showings in Canada as well:

Thanks actually went and looked it up right after this! Did find some subtitled ones still going. Im lucky to have a theater near me that actually picks up all the anime movies that get released and does more then one showing. Owner of that theater must be an anime fan or something

My initial thoughts: It was well done. Very well done. The parallels to the series, along with the connections across the 6000 year gap, are subtle but well managed. The soundtrack was powerful and definitely drew the audience in, capturing every moment in awe. The humor from the series, as well as some of the playful fan service, is definitely kept and could be felt throughout the theater with tons of laughter! There were some jumps here and there that felt slightly inconsistent, but they were brief and the story kept a good flow otherwise.

Overall, loved it! There were many high and powerful moments, as well as moments where you just wanted to sit and tear up, hoping that things would turn around.

I didn't mind the commentary at the beginning, but it did take me by surprise... Lol

Okay, I want everyone's honest opinion on this one: do you think the gratuitous fan service of the series is worth overlooking because of the clever and well though out plot and characters?

Why would I want to overlook it? The fanservice is great.

I'm okay with the normal shonen level of fan service, but like this is basically just a step below hentai.
Though, then again, there is a subtle reasoning in your words... I am baffled

The show is all about being over the top in everything so of course the fanservice will be too. Which is totally fine with me!

I did not think any of it was well thought out. As for your tastes, I wouldn't say the fanservice is that much, but I have been desensitized to 2-D breasts, to be honest. It is not Kakegurui, which is oddly sexual in both intensity and variety.

Much of it relies on style for substance, and I do not find anything wrong with that model.

I have not seen the bath scenes take up too much time, and they are presented in a humorous context anyway. (I defeated you, let us go out for not a drink, but an awkward group bath of friendship.)

I assume you mean the original series. Honestly? I don't think the fanservice takes away from the story, but compliments the series well.
