Episode 3

And here comes another character, a grown man whose dream is to map out this wasteland of a world, and his dream nearly died when he dropped all of his maps off the lift. Luckily, Chito and Yuuri managed to save him, and Kanazawa decides to start over from square one. That was great to see those three coming together like that. And to make a bridge out of a condemned skyscraper, genius.

Great episode Yuuri's comforting outlook on life for Kanazawa after she was pondering it with Chito earlier was quite profound for such a poignant moment. I guess her simple mindedness can be a good thing sometimes I guess we know why there are hardly any people too, when a healthy young man finally meets up with two healthy cute girls and decides to go off alone

This show has been such an unexpected treat so far this season. I really was not looking forward to a lot of shows this season. And the shows I did want to like, I ended up not liking. So I tried some others, this one included, and I am loving it so far. A much better season than I anticipated.

I really can't wait to see what kinds of adventures and hijinks will ensue with these adorable girls along the way. It's hard to not care about them right now.

I absolutely love this show even though I have no idea what the point of it is. Quirky goodness ftw.

I didn't think we'd see another person so soon. I expected Chito and Yuuri to continue adventuring on their own for a while if not the rest of the series. It's nice to see confirmation that there are still other people around. I wonder how far in the future this takes place. These buildings look so advanced but they've been largely left untouched for generations.

Yuuri is such a cute troll. "I won't burn your maps"
*a few seconds later*
"Let me burn your maps."
"I want to see if he really does kill himself."

Does anyone know if Kanazawa is listed in the credits? His voice sounds like Akira Ishida but I can't find anything.

I actually made note that he was not listed in the credits. Only the girls were listed. I was kinda curious too.

In every Amazon subbed show I've seen, I noticed they don't include additional cast in the black screen credits that roll at the end. Only the main cast. It's kinda annoying whenever I want to know who voiced a character but they don't show up in the English credits.

First half of first episode -- I'm not so sure about it.
Finished episode 1 and continuing through episode 2 -- looks, very, very promising, but I'm feeling cautious.
Episode 3 - For the moment at least this just joined my "Best of Season" list.

This thing is good. And not like how I've been saying Hajimete no Gal is good.

Girls' Last Tour organically brings up the danger and sadness in their situation - and in life in general - without being at all overdramatic. Maybe part of it is that this is a post-apocalyptic world that doesn't have danger around every corner; there's no active enemy. Even so, it manages to say a lot about human hope and aspirations. Kanazawa was a great character, and Yuu was the perfect foil for him, as she just naturally knows how to cut through humanity's bullshit rationalizations: Think your life's over if your life project is ruined? Think you can survive just fine in a wasteland without a weapon? Not only will Yuu smack you over the head, she'll crack a good joke or two, teach you how to live life, and steal your food in the process. And she does it without even thinking about it, because she gets it intuitively. I myself wouldn't give it as a complete answer, but Yuu's "There are nice things sometimes" was basically what I was thinking the whole episode - and then she actually said it. And she wasn't afraid to come down hard on Kanazawa; calling someone a devil isn't exactly polite fare, but she was exactly right - Kanazawa's thinking was inhuman.

In my first comment I mentioned that Chi and Yuu have to reenter the social contract themselves, since they don't live in a larger society. But along with that goes the concept of the state of nature - what humans were like before society. So far Girls' Last Tour is showing us something of a Rousseauian view, where, instead of the noble savage, we have the moeblob. Indeed, Yui's airheadedness - which is innate to the moeblob - makes the comparison even more apt. This show just works.

EDIT: Hobbesian moeblob doesn't sound nearly as good.
