I tried to enjoy this manga. I really did, but I found it boring. I was honestly surprised about that, since I expected to really enjoy it, but I found that there were other manga I would rather be reading.

Even if there are similarities, it shouldn't be looked upon negatively. Rather, it being a nod to those previous series.

I've read it up to about 64 but it gets a little annoying when it's "another 5 enemies warp in" *beats them* "LUL JK.. "stronger dudes warp in" is it over?? we done here?? "boss and 5 more dudes warps in" .. like.. just give us a break for a chapter or 2. We don't need constant back to back fighting of enemies. And I realize the anti-magic is strong against magicians, but I don't think he should be on captain level yet. He is literally just a kid that just started. Makes the really strong knights weaker than they are since a shonen lasts a while. if Asta can already contend with them then where is the room for growth?

I am sensing in later chapters Asta is going to discover a demon inside of him/he is a demon and that was why he didn't have any magic power. Because he has "demonic power" which is opposite to magic.

The reason it was so fast in the beginning is because of how the magazine works. If you're not reeling in the readers, then you get the cut. He wanted to hold the readers attention for as long as possible before he secured his position so that he for sure would not get cancelled. It's how businesses work, so I personally don't blame him for moving at such a brisk speed, making sure he didn't fall down in the rankings.

It does slow down quite a bit after the first 100 chapters though.

Eh, not quite. If you want to know, then I put a spoiler tag for you.

Just from watching the anime, I can feel this show being rushed a lot. Is the pacing similar to this in the manga? They basically blasted though the exam for Asta joining the Black bulls. I feel like this exam would of been a great opportunity to show case and explains how grimores and magic actually worked. Does the clover represent the amount of spells someone can use? Does each grimore come with different spells and element specific? Can you only use pre-existing spells that are in the grimore and you need to write down new spells you learn? Does certain magic counter certain magic? What are all the different type of magic?

Instead they just blazed through everything and pretty much every fight was a 1 shot. Felt like lost opportunity to at least show case good fight scenes and how magical combat worked. Seems like the whole main take away from this exam was instead to learn more about the different groups/leaders and that Asta does not have mana himself.

It's the opposite, so far the anime has stretched around three chapters into five episodes. The first two fights (and maybe even next weeks episode) are pretty much there just to demonstrate the first swords magic cancelling abilities
After that the fights rely on good teamwork and battle plans, which is arguably the strength of the series.

It's never formally explained, but most people have a single magic affinity from birth, most commonly elemental. Yuno is wind, Noelle is water, Magna is fire, and then you have Finral doing portals and Vangeance creating huge trees. The grimoire seems to start off with very little in it, and pages are magically written into it as the user grows.

You are correct, the grimoires seem to operate under the Zatch Bell principle. And yeah, the anime ruins the best part of the manga, which is that by not really caring much about plot or character depth it can go straight into cool fights. The anime draws out the time between said fights waaay too much and makes the characters actually less likeable while doing so.

That good to know because if this is how the fight actually are going to be then I will be dropping the series but from what you are saying, the fight will actually get better from what it seems. I am just hoping that the first big arc will be amazing since many of the big shounen manga didnt really take stride until their big arc. Bleach was soul society and naruto was the Zabuza arc. With how they are trying to force their way to the story, it better be a damn good arc.
