I kept thinking, "Ah, he must be the Stig's brother or cousin or something but prefers motorcycles to cars."

I looked up the Isle of Man TT and that is some super serious racing. It's considered one of the deadliest.

yeah. Someone dies almost every year. Sometimes it's people in the crowd.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to think Stig in the anime. But I recently posted this video to my FB account and it has an early motorcycle/sidecar racing machine in it. https://youtu.be/mtLpZWNyM0I

Personally I thought that was brilliant.

Really good and solid animation. Decent on-track action too, but the constant cut-aways actually made me want to see more of the race itself, but I enjoyed how they took the time to interpose the race with the main team's background.

I thought it was funny how they kept the coach's face and identity hidden like the Stig the whole time.

I hope they go into more background on all the teams, but this is clearly Yuri and Megumi's show and is about them and their challenges.

The ED is one of my favorites of the season so far as well.

I am a big motorsports fan. I watch F1, Indycar, NHRA, IHRA, NASCAR, Motogp, and a few other smaller series and sports.

I actually enjoy sidecar racing as well. I lived in England for a year and it's pretty popular over there as well as France and Germany. I was thinking about that the whole time. Then the coach mentioned wanting to move to England for the Isle of Man TT.

Anyways, that was a really good solid start to a new show. I know it won't be for everyone, but I will eat stuff like this up.

It kind of feels like this show was written for me.

I still wish someone would make a good, solid F1 based anime.

I agree with you, whenever a motorsport related series pops up I feel like it's written for me haha

Coincidentally I'm up in the U.K. (about a solid 50 miles from the Isle of Man) at the moment for racing, though I use a steering wheel and 4 wheels as opposed to 2. Someone in my family used to build bikes for Moto GP in the 80s and 90s, but my parents wouldn't want me to race motorcycles due to the danger. Either way racing is racing and any anime that captures the sport that my life revolves around has my attention.

I would love for someone to make a solid anime around F1, racing is a cruel sport and it would make a great story if it included all the hardships around setting up the car correctly, getting the correct engineers, the money, the politics, and all the other aspects that most people that aren't in the sport can't grasp.

Darn Skippy. Where about are you? Sadly I never got to get close to Isle of Man. I used to live in Grantham.

So, why is it Two Cars? Overly literal translation?

Other than it being that, I would guess that it's Formula (Two) Side(car) racing, as opposed to Formula One Sidecar racing.

I feel so dumb, cause I first thought that this anime was about a made-up/fake sport. And I've seen videos of sidecar racing before *palmtoface*

I'm up in Anglesey at the moment, but I'm only here for the circuit. After the meeting I head back to California.

Two Car? Well, i guess that's the only way to call it. It's the first time i see something like this and had to search it. Found so.

Hard to say anything about this but it's interesting if i put it that way. But what's deal with male characters. You can't show their faces?

While The Faceless is a trope in its own right, this is likely a nod to The Stig.

Episode 2

And now the girls are all getting to know each other on the island. And the story between Chiyuki and Misaki is explained as they come from very different backgrounds. Chiyuki is in need of a passenger after her's quit, and Misaki is too busy with her jobs to do anything. But she bribes her to join paying her for racing with her, and that's how those two formed a pair. They start up a test run, and Chiyuki and Misaki aren't on the same page. Well, that was pretty underwhelming, and I'm not exactly sure what the point was having driver and passenger stay in separate inns, but nevertheless some pairs have chemistry issues.

Damn quite the switch.

Trouble is brewing within some teams, let's see how that is fixed next week.

Still not digging the doubling (or tripling, or quadrupling?) down on the two leads crushing on their coach angle but, other than that, this was a pretty solid episode overall. It does look like we're actually going to be getting more time with each of the teams contrary to what I was afraid of coming off the first episode. The commentary team is great, especially how the girl who does colour is completely different when not "on" for the cameras.

Also, nice to see mention of one of the racing pairs getting married during their pre-warmup meal. Sure it was intended as a joke but at least it wasn't blown out of the water at all.

Pretty sure that's the reason for her choosing her partner.

BTW, what's with those side tables? Is that sand? Coke?
