Oh my goodness, this is beautiful.
I think I maybe have just found my new wallpaper collection.
I think they've done a fantastic job in adapting the manga. The voices actors really fit their roles (especially Chise's). The OP/ED themes really suit the show as well, and I liked how they weren't just your typical Jpop songs.
Also chibi Elias is really cute! Well, all the characters in chibi form are.
I have a feeling this will be one of my favourites this season.

Really enjoyed both the prequels and this new series (so far) looking forward to more.

Elias seems to mean well but the situation definitely is a little dodgy

I believe this is something similar to a slave auction (in more of a non sexual version bdsm sense then illegal) and she was more or less enticed into being apart of it. If you have ever felt the world against you and that nothing goes right. With enough time suffering you might take any path possible to change it. Even in this case becoming a "pet" for someone else. Just so you can be wanted and belong. That doesn't mean you fully think through every situation that could possibly happen.

As always that is just my opinion and way I see the situation.

Non sexual BDSM? I don't think there is such a thing...and yeah becoming a "pet" is not something I have ever heard of anyone turning to no matter how desperate even if someone else suggested it was a good idea.
I saw the prequels and I get she was alone but I really need at least a believable premise (believable in the world that is presented anyway) to get into a show, not really getting that here. An unexplained slave selling enterprise with hundreds of customers just bothers me.

24 episodes... hype! That was what I was going to ask when I came here!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SERIES. I LOVE how true to the manga it is. I know this was REALLY important to IG when they started the project and I am so, so happy.

I suggest reading the manga.

A nice start. Aside from some questionable stuff like purchasing your future wife at a slave auction, Elias seems like a nice and trustworthy guy. It'll be interesting to see how Chise grows over time since she clearly has very little self-worth and now she's going to be raised as an apprentice to magus who does see worth in her.

I held off from watching the prequel OVA since I heard that there are some spoilers in it for stuff that'll happen later, but now I'm hearing (in other places) that the OVA actually helps us to understand Chise more in this first episode. Should I watch it now or wait until a later point in the series?

Wait a few episodes if you want no spoilers. The one character in the ova that's a bit spoilery shows up fairly soon.

I say you should go for watching the OVA now. I watched the first OVA last year when it came out and I knew nothing about Ancient MAgus bride, and I turned out fine

I think that what people are referring to as 'spoilers' is the very brief presence of a character who hasn't been introduced in the first three episodes yet. So in that sense the character's presence will spoil the outcome of a future TV episode's events, but the OVA doesn't spoil any plot points about any story arcs or really require any knowledge about the series.

The story told in the OVAs is a stand-alone story that doesn't connect to anything in the manga, and it's completely original to the OVA. I think it 's actually a great place to start, because it shows very well why Chise is just the saddest kid ever.

I wouldn't put off watching the OVA for four or five weeks for the TV anime to introduce one character who has a very minor presence in the OVA.

Magnificent first episode. At least for now (after 3 OVAs and one episode) it looks like it really deserves all the praise.

Episode 1

The OP for this is musically stunning since it has like a Spanish/Latin orchestral thing going for it, which is def up my alley.

Visual are stunning too and how the first episode lays out the beginning feels inviting. Definitely ready for this one

The wait is finally over. The manga is great and anime is going to be too. One of the best Fall 2017 simulcasts there is. Enough said.

the art style alone sucked me in with the OVA, so I just had to start watching the series, the anime isn't wasting anything with voices, style, plot and character development. I'm thankful with all these dark/gore anime dumped this fall that this one, even though dark, hasn't advanced towards the gore sector yet, so that's a blessing there. I like gore and violence, but sometimes I like to watch things that doesn't involve a lot of that stuff.
