I use a Xerox solid ink color printer. You don't have to worry about your ink drying out then (and it makes great prints too) You can get a new one for less than $300. The ink itself is pricey, but you don't have to worry about the ink getting all over everywhere.

I used to but the clever bastards related to HP had me download new instructions for my Officejet Pro a few years ago. Now I "enjoy" paying near full fare for their inks or the printer doesn't run. There is a way to turn back history on this maniacal monopoly and have it operate using 2nd party refills but I've gotten too lazy to worry about it and correct this corporate transgression on my freedom of choice.

Generic refill ink are cheap on eBay

cheap ink refills will cause smearing though. Refilling it yourself is definitely the cheapest method.

I pay a local shop to refill my ink, kinda the story of my life. I have enough wealth and little patience for mundane tasks that I will always pay someone to take care of them for me. They even do pick up and drop off to.

Dear people. Just get a brothers printer. That thing last several years. The ink last really long as well. Their ink are affordable. I didn't replace my ink for a whole year. I bought ink for $50. If we're talking about the best printers, #1 spot would go for Brothers for price and quality.

I have not used a printer in almost fifteen years.
They are quite evil and overpriced as a whole.
I have even convinced the entire office to recycle the printers and go paperless.
It lowered the costs due to repairs, maintenance, ink refills, and paper.

Blegh, printers.

I don't use printers because I have no need to and they are terrible. If I need something printed I get someone to print it off at work for me

I have a $150 ink-jet printer that I use to print out all my envelopes, letters and coupons, and have never once seen the need to call in a Catholic priest to exorcise it. It has no built-in fax, but I manage somehow.

Oh, I can't use cheap-knockoffs, it's TYRANNY!
It would be nice, but before HP brought down the regulations on non-approved cartridges, I confess I'd never had good experiences with third-party refills. If a tech-monopoly works for them, it works for me.

(Let me guess, most of the "Evil!" folk are those who thought they had to get laser, because that's what they used at work? Yeah, they're no fun.)

I saw this on Consumer reports. I'll look for these printers with ink tanks for my next purchase. You have to have a printer if you have a home office.

yep, Brother brand printers are great. I think my Brother all-in-one printer is around 15 years old and it still works perfectly.

Bought an HP 3-in-1 Laserjet printer ages ago. You get a lot more bang for your buck when dealing with Laser printers rather than Ink.

from the look of it.. yes.

people should support these products and the other companies will have no choice but to release printers with ink tanks instead of cartridges when their sale numbers are going into freefall

Give up on Hp. Often to save money they don't put a CPU in side the printer. They farm the work off to the computer to do which rarely works. We use brother pretty much exclusively except for our canon printers. What can you do Hp has become cheap crap in the printer area.
