I think it's Miyuki's moves from Lucky Star, especially with the bass in the background.

This was a good episode. I never thought I'd enjoy an anime about high school kids talking about an anime this much. Also Anchan did such a fantastic job as Erika! Her voice is a lot deep than when she plays Chika <3

In the end, it's gonna need a blog compiling all the references, kinda like Nyaruko-san.

Episode 3

The kids are kicked out of their club room as the student council is rejecting their club application. So it's onto Akihabara, the heart of the otaku culture, where Minoa is introduced to all sorts of things like cosplay and anime merch. And the references keep coming like Micross Gamma and Arina the Scarlet Ammo. Then they talk about the three episode rule that people tend to make. So back to the club approval, the president only wants clubs that contribute, and an anime club doesn't do that. But with Kaikai's speech, it got approved. The references just keep coming and it's nice to hear about them. Kaikai is such a lifesaver there as in the past this student council has been against getting it approved.

Kai is the freaking man!
That guy should get a gold medal or something for that speech.

We need more of him in future episodes.

I'm not sure where I'd stand on this series if I weren't an anime fan. That said, on the previously discussed recommendation of whether to show it to someone new to anime I'd think of this as a follow-up to a more "classic" entry with the explanation of taking it as a lesson in anime. It could be a fun point of discussion with someone new to anime pointing out the assorted references and the anime they're based on. Especially since the show has thus far stuck with some pretty mainstream popular series to riff off of.

I'm wondering how or if they'll be tying all these threads they've been teasing. The room behind the door that must always be closed. The hat. The man who picked it up when Minoa dropped it. The space elevator and Minoa's father's reaction to the anime club. The apparent dogged and long running effort of the student council to keep the club shutdown even though that room is pretty well stocked. And, of course, neko-senpai who only seems to talk to Minoa.

I thought it was amusing (and slightly brave?) that they talked about the 3 episode rule... on episode 3 ;)

Kai did great in his passionate speech.
Is it not risking social suicide to declare your love for Anime in high school when everyone is striving for an identity, trying to be "cool", and wanting to appear "normal"? I'm glad their student body was more accepting, as at the end of the day, everyone has their own interests, and generally one is not better than another.

The Student Council President did leave a throwaway comment that implied she was concerned for Erika, rather than being a philistine.

This show makes me sleepy.

I did like the BG posters, though.

Ah, just the image (above) i was looking for. Thanks, MadeDragon! A Certain Report on the Irresponsible and Depressing Chronicles of Me and a Certain Eccentric Friend? Could it possibly be any longer? Not to mention, it has few different series in it, which i can at least name one.

One thing that was said that how episode 3 would be a turning point in a plot. Now that i think about it, it's true. At least, i can name a few where that happens.

Another fun episode. Yet another show being overshadowed this season by more impressive affairs. That said I am personally enjoying this a lot. So much meta fun.

If you did not get it, the entirety of Kai's speech was a reference to the anime being referenced when they gave her an anime with apparently a favorite speech, Maoyu. Which indeed has an amazing speech, and makes Kai's speech funnier in knowing what it is supposed to be about.
