Well, no one was beaten half to death by the Inquisition, so all's well that ends well. At least the Cat is still going strong.

This show is up to something...all the references. The people making this are having way too much fun screwing with us. That was some pretty ominous foreshadowing between the 3rd episode explanations and the student council's determination to stop anime clubs from forming and the worry they had when this one was successful. Throw in the cat and locked room and I have a feeling this is going to get weird...in a good way. At least I hope it does, anyway at least the animation has been really good so far either this has a bigger than average budget or they're doing a real good job making it look like it does.

so is this show basically just going to explain all the fun things about being an anime fan in story-form?
because i dont have a problem with that.

I didn't really have many high hopes for this anime going into it. Its fairly generic as far as the premise goes; but I am starting to sort of get into the groove on this one. I really like meta narrative that was in the last episode and the way the episode was sort of structured to fall into that archetype. I think the writers on this one are fairly clever which elevates what would be a relatively generic anime to something else.

So watched the first 3 eps after a recommendation. How did this one slip past my radar?

Very meta and many many references.

Episode 4

Erika ordered a bunch of anime from Numazon and the BDs are arranged like a Jenga tower. And then they give a crash course on how anime producers make their money in that most of it comes from merchandise sales and overseas distribution. The student council continues their mission to get the Anime Club dissolved as Arisu spent a lot of the school's club money to buy all those anime. Next day, Erika dresses up as a magical girl to recruit members to the club, and then go out to help other clubs with no success. So Nakano comes up with the idea tearing out of the Love Live playbook and make costumes for a school idol group to win the approval of the students. Once again, the numerous references are great, while Erika's backstory really is something. Tsubaki's attempt to shut down the club is bound to get old, but nevertheless it's pretty entertaining.

Idols saving the World Club - is there nothing they can't save?
Production committee was interesting - thought they'd at least get something from TV ads? Must be Seele's plot.

Really not sure why the Pres has it in for the club - I knew she had some anime history from the previous episode's throwaway line which was made clear this episode, and she still has the same picture as her smartphone wallpaper. She feels like a bad guy for the sake of a bad guy.

The phone call near the end seemed to imply there's some third party that was behind the student council's actions. I imagine it will be tied to the crazy Samurai Flamenco-esque plot twist that will totally happen in a few episodes.

just another purely fun and delightful episode.

This show doesn't do anything amazing, outside of it's meta, but it just does everything well. A treat of the season for sure.

This show is staying really fun, beyond the references the weird plot is a nice change from the usual over used plots recycled all the time. And LOL Americans, someone needs to use a picture of them next time someone starts a 'why do anime characters look white?' discussion.

The one part of the episode I didn't like was how somebody is pulling Tsubaki's strings. That's one trope I could have done without.
