Yes, and Gemany is a self-loathing shithole right now that hates itself to the point of trying to replace themselves with savages. If they were smart, they should of at least kept a few of the statues intact and put them in a museum as a reminder of the dark chapters of their history.

Just like we should at least keep a few. Besides, the America Civil War was nowhere near as bad as ww2 on the German side. We only killed people of this nation over a disagreement over if black people were people or property. WW2 Germany didn't even bother treating Jews like precious property, they just viewed them as plain old unwanted garbage, and they killed any and everyone that stood in their way.

People just need to stop blowing this shit out of proportions. They are statues of history. Good history, bad history, who cares, it's history and needs to be remembered, for those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

Considering I smell another civil war over the horizon over politics and ethics of people... I say people are already forgetting. That, or I might just be having paranoia induced smelling hallucinations. :P

Germany has a lot of museums and memorials dedicated to those that died and to never forgetting the Holocaust. They just do their best to make sure that things are contextualized and realize that there is a place for this type of thing. Having a statue of Hitler standing in the middle of public park just isn't a good place.

Besides, statues aren't how we preserve history. I don't think I've ever encountered a Confederate statue having grown up in the north but that doesn't mean I don't know about the Civil War. Books are how we preserve history, not statues. Statues are how we commemorate it.

"We are about heritage"

Yeah the heritage of nearly destroying this country by causing a civil war. All because of the arrogant and selfish desires to keep and maintain slaves. I agree, tear down the statue. This isn't the 1600's anymore, these idiots need to be reminded of that.

Is anyone still even pretending to buy into this narrative that people who want to take the monuments away want to "erase history"? I mean I can only assume it's pretending, since my hope for humanity has not yet sunk so low that I believe such a large number of people could unironically forget about textbooks, photographs, museums, the endless quantity of books written on the subject and the internet which is, you know, the very platform they use for this mindless proselytizing. It just seems kinda hard for a thinking person to forget.

Lmao there was like half a dozen guys. It would've been a non-story if not for the medias obsession with exaggerating white racism.

K 40 to 50 people. Still an exaggeration. People of all backgrounds are always traveling to majority white nations. I'm going to guess that reason isn't how hateful we are.

Everything I don't like is white nationalism.

As though nationalism is a bad thing.

Saying there was an attendance of 40 to 50 people when there was an attendance of 40 to 50 people is an exaggeration, who knew?

The statues were put up in the early stages of Jim Crow specifically to intimidate black people and remind them who was still in charge. The statues have no historical value since they are themselves an attempt to erase history. Furthermore, it makes no sense to glorify people who were some of America’s worst enemies.

Let me see if I understand: the statues erase history by reminding us of prominent figures in history? That makes no sense to me, but...

How does that change the fact that they were not hurting anyone, and this Memory Hole stuff is the catalyst for violence?

They should go down for the same reason a statue of Hitler should never go up.

In addition, it's not our history.

They were confederate traitors who fought for the right to enslave other people. They didn't fight for America, and their values were certainly never American.

The confederacy belongs in museums and dusty history books. Not celebrated in the country they fought to destroy.

Meh the left and their whining about things like statues is the exact same thing as the religious pearl clutching church ladies 20 years ago. Whenever they came across something they didn't like they wanted it destroyed or banned. We're literally seeing book burnings and things like that now. The saddest part is, people aren't waiting for them to be moved to a museum. They are flat out DESTROYING a lot of them. Weird, isn't ISIS doing the same thing? The statue is an inanimate object. The statue itself is not racist. The statue immortalizes a man that was willing to fight AND DIE for a cause he believed in. Which is more than I can say about the perpetually offended crybabies. No matter how wrong you think that cause was.

Watching everyone get so mad at an inanimate object to the point they started kicking and spitting on it made me laugh. All I could think was "jesus what a bunch of double digit IQ having primates"

Also loving how the media is trying to paint neo-nazism and white nationalism as some huge, out of control movement. Then we see a picture of like 30 there.

These rallies by definition are not peaceful you can March without hurting anyone but being a Nazi is inherently evil and is inherently violent and cannot ever be tolerated First Amendment be damned
