Misaki-chan I found to be a bit of a mixed bag. While I admire her unwavering loyalty to Satou-san throughout the show. By the shows end I cant help but feel disgusted by her motives, of which she never repents. In the anime she never says her age(though in the beginning when Satou-sanmakes a wide guess she agree's), so its a bit hard to grasp any large age difference. Though I got the impression Satou-san was at least 5-6yrs older so thats not a huge difference from a western perspective, though would be slightly taboo in Japan. For the most part I felt Misaki-chan was the most enjoyable of all the characters. She was the warm, comforting voice of the show. Albeit with a bit of disgusting side. Points for effort for the cat-girl outfit to cheer up Satou-san. I have to give credit to any girl who would run through town looking like that to cheer up a friend.
.

Really disgustied? Misaki was much more tragic than Satou ( she actually had a shitty life whereas he created his own shitty life), and she mentioned multiple times the only reason for her interest in him was that she thought he was even worse off than her. That she would actually do this in the hopes she could get him to fall in love with her shows how bad off she was. Judging by the direction the anime was going and the last couple episodes I think they do develop a romantic relationship, they need each other.

Perhaps I missed something then. I got the impression she wanted him around because she needed someone who was more pathetic then her life had been. In which case caring for someone because they are so wretched that you feel better about yourself isnt very virtuous no? Though if thats her only downfall she is still miles apart from Satou-san. The fact that she still functions as a part of society, and reaches out to others proves she is far more mentally stable then most of the other characters in the story.

EDIT: ahh yeah I remember her saying why she chose him I guess I never took it seriously and thought it was part of the "therapy"

She picks him because she thinks he is worse off than her but towards the end she reveals she thought her plan would get him to fall for her and thus never leave her. When it doesn't work that's what drives her to finally give up and
. Obviously it's a juvenile idea but for someone as desperate and young as her it's understandable, and even with her problems like his mother said, Sato doesn't deserve someone like her.

yeah Sato deserves much better
