In this modern society, a new kind of “illness” is striking young boys and girls. Loneliness, disbelief and outrage are pushing this generation to become more and more attached to the Internet and technology. Experts call this symptom “Net Addiction”. To prevent this, a Rehabilitation Facility has been set up to “Lead the young generation back onto the right path.” Enrolled to treat his addiction, Hibiki has no idea that this Rehabilitation Facility is nothing more than a prison. In this place escape is not permitted, how will Hibiki challenge despair in this hell?

The first episode is now live on Crunchyroll: http://www.crunchyroll.com/evil-or-live/episode-1-standing-on-the-edge-of-despair-749999

Episode 1

Knowing Haoliners and anime shows that are adapted from stuff of Chinese origin, I was expecting it to be bad, and that's exactly what I got here. That said, the concept is interesting in having a boot camp for those whose internet addictions have gotten out of control all while mixing live-action scenes into this. But of course, it's Haoliners, and that means crappy animation, a story full of cringe, and bland characters. At least the story concept is solid and it did a decent job with the setup letting everybody know what this show is. Anyway, I'm interested in hearing what Shiori's story is and how this honors student ended up here, as well as Hibiki being Shin's servant.

The premise has my interest but the main characters are so dull to watch.

Haoliners' visual quality is still crappy as expected. Oh well, going to give this a few more episodes to see if it's worth watching.

so that's what net addicts are predicted to be, interesting. net addicts are dull, boring, pointless and pathetic? in theory it was a good idea, but it isn't being presented well. to beat someone away from an addiction... "fat camp" doesn't work for food addicts. I'll give it a bit longer and see how it goes, thus far I'm not really impressed by it.

wow that was a bad premise. The animation company Emon Haoliners Animation clip that plays before an anime has almost become a cautionary clip. It seems like every anime that features it is not very good.

Not really improved by the fact that it's based on reality.

I mean I agree with you. Its kind of silly to make people who use the internet out to be addicts. I use the internet almost all day and make a good living doing so. Technically, I would be considered an internet addict but also an upstanding citizen of society.

It wasn't that bad. I feel like we are bashing haoliners for the sake of bashing haoliners.

The thing in the beginning with the live action is just an explanation for an actual chinese social problem. Moreover there are actual camps like this in china.

Plus i dont think the premise is that bad. A normal scrawny kid who is addicted to the internet is sent to a camp to be reformed. The thing is, alot of us can see ourselves in the scrawny kid. At times I feel like I watching one of the scenes from Btooom and it honestly feel like classroom of the elite edge fest.

As for the artwork, I pretty blind at differentiating but it was still watchable.

The best part of a series like this is to see how the chinese respond to their own neets in contrast with the japanese. In the beginning part, you hear many traditional/Confucian values and how many people in china actually view their own country.

I will probably watch it out of spite because everyone says it bad even through I don't like edgy stuff because i would like to think I outgrew that.

Creepy, I had just recently watched a documentary on this show's very premise (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z15enlhZLi8 and a few others). There are numerous of these institutions in China and South Korea. Rather scary how extreme addictions can be, and how certain governments react to those issues.

Very curious to what this series' endgame is; whether the main character successfully escapes, rehabilitates, or transforms into something else.

Yeah, that title is rather eye-rolling. The actual name of manhua is Lixiang Jinqu; which translated to "Ideal Restricted Area". Guess they thought Evil or Live was a more marketable title.

Shin's voice actor is Kouki Uchiyama. No wonder he sounded familiar. He's also the voice Haikyuu's Tsuki and Hunter X Hunter's Mereum.

Then you are not one of them. These kids are sent to the camps because of their harmful behaviors towards others and themselves. Usually both parents and themselves are at fault and it's better to prevent it from happening.

Interesting facts about the original character names.

The Chinese names of the main casts are homonyms.

Hibiki - 黎響 - Li xiang - 理想 - Ideal
Shin - 孟進 - Meng Jin - 梦境 - Dreamland
Shian - 冼石 - Xian Shi - 现实 - Reality

Yeah, I'm also wondering about the endgame.I have the nasty sensation that the club is going to be presented more or less as an actual solution of some kind, and less as a evil prison place. The addiction is a real social issue, Wish I knew how the manhua went.
