If there's anything MAPPA knows how to do best, it's their CGI. Not as great as ufotable's special CGI artists, but still much better than most studios. For a show that heavily relies on transforming mechanical body parts, it nice to see the CGI flow so smoothly and blend in with the 2D animation.

One of the best premieres of the season. I felt really bad for Ichirou within just minutes. I could've done without the group of kids trying to kill a homeless man but the resolution of that was perfect. I wasn't expecting them to be filmed and instantly shown on t.v. with their names revealed to the public. It makes me wonder just how many abilities Ichirou now has that aren't just combat related. Since the manga is complete and there are going to be 11 episodes, it looks like this is going to be a complete adaptation.

It's cool that Ichirou's VA is a 63 year old actor and this is first time in anime, not counting a very minor role in a movie a few months ago. Much better than another first time VA voicing a very loud main character in another show airing this season that I won't mention.

Also, that OP is easily the best I've seen this season. Since all the videos of it are blocked on YouTube, here's part of MAN WITH A MISSION's music video for this song. Warning: it also contains some scenes that haven't been shown yet, mainly about the mysterious guy who appeared briefly in this episode (or at least I think that's him).

I was surprised to learn this since he sounds so young in some of those earlier lines. He's really taken care of his voice apparently, good for him.

From what they've shown Inuyashiki does indeed live a sad life. The wrinkled frowned face depict that perfectly. I don't think it's fair to immediately blame his family. Not much was shown to get the full story of the family's relationship with each other. People usually don't become distant and indifferent just like that. It's possible that he was so caught up in his work and dream of owning a home for his family debt free that he didn't get to know any of them. That's why they didn't pick up that something was wrong with him or pay attention to him when he finally did want to communicate with them. At least he did get himself a good canine friend.

He now has the opportunity of correcting the family relationship for himself and for his family.

For the people mad this is mainly CG, read the manga. There is A LOT of stuff there's no way they'd be able to animate by hand.

Not really sure what to think of this one so far. I had high expectations for this and while there were definitely some elements that I really enjoyed there were also parts that just didn't connect with me the way I think they were intended to. A bit of a mixed bag but I'll definitely check in again next week.

I just wish they would pick either CG or hand drawn instead of jumping between the two so frequently. It feels jarring and inorganic.

Which sucks because on its own its pretty decent CGI.

I do agree, we've gotten to the point where I'd say CG anime can be just as good looking as some hand drawn animation.

Very cool looking. The CGI really works here.

This looks like a very depressing and hard to watch show though. Not the kind I can watch with anything kind of mood.

I just saw episode 1 and I thought the intro episode was very good and interesting
The animation was excellent ,blending CG and 2D was done very well and when I watched it I actually didn't see the Op song so I didn't know what to expect, It was a pleasant surprise

As far as the main character, there is an element of realism here and the poor dad must have work so hard so that he can build this house for his family but inturn he doesn't have any relationship with his own children, plus his health problem ,a very sad reality . That part was really difficult to watch but I am glad he got that shibainu like I got my own little chihuahua pug baby

The reality of getting old is a sad one which I can relate to right now with all my aches and pain .......but he is a f***ken android now , and a weapons grade android to boot with his human consciousness intact EXCELLENT !!! love the concept man !!

Anyway from the Op song alone it seems that there are 4 of them.
If this was here in CR I would have put 5 stars

oh wow. I liked the first episode, I bought the concept of an old man who's dying getting another chance to live life again. Looking forward to where this anime takes me.

I wasn't too sure how I'd like a series with such an old protagonist, but man, the first few minutes of the episode sure tugged on my heartstrings. Haven't read the manga yet but heard the ending wasn't the best. Will be interesting to see how the anime handles the ending--will it stick to the manga or have an original ending? Can't wait to see how it pans out though.
