Gender has existed for centuries some societies even having three so two is just the baseline that we use because it's all we need it's not actually something that HAS to be two.

Sex on the other matter is to do with your chromosomes.
People like to use these two words interchangeably which is fine but they do forget they are not the same thing.

Society is fine with two genders imo as opposed to more.

It's a cultural thing I guess.

Also please...God made it this way? People, this is the worst argument you can give regardless of what you think lol. God is a human invention.

how is a penis and vagina cultural? There is only man and woman, its a biology thing.

Penis and Vagina is if your a male or female your biological sex gender has been different through other cultures some having more then two.
They are both different things though we use them interchangeably and only use two genders now.

that's how Gender is cultural

This didn't just happen. The dominant religion of the west decreed there were only two genders and punished offenders as harshly as heretics.

Doesn't surprise me religion has forced change for many things

some can have children others can't, females with full turner syndrome can not reproduce, men with somatic mosaicism may be able to reproduce however that means they pass on the normal chromosomes most of the time, so either an x or y. Some forms of intersex are not caused by genetic problems, but development problems during pregnancy like androgen insensitivity syndrome which can be both genetic, but not always. As I stated above xxyy, xyy, and xxx are chromosomal disorders and most with xyy and xxx can have children while xxyy tend to be sterile.

Two genders might even be a little excessive really - asexual reproduction is a thing in some species

Why did nature make it so that some species have males and females, and some species have just one gender than can reproduce with everyone else?
Why aren't humans as efficient as worms?

I don't think there's no need for third gender.

And so there are two genders on earth, why two? Why not three? What exactly is a male and what exactly is a female?

The key difference, only the female can reproduce offspring. And throughout evolution, there is never a third gender, strange isn't it?

It depends on the culture. There are several societies with more than two genders Like, two-spirit.

thinking more into it, Two because its convenient for binary representation. 0 = female, 1 = male. We are in the digital age afterall.

Gender and biological sex are two different things.
Biological sex is either male or female. there are rare cases of intersex people who are born with both sets of organs, usually at the time of birth the parents will select the one that is more developed and raise the child as that sex (doctors can perform these operations shortly after birth and the child has no cognitive memory of the change). There have been cases where parents chose a sex for their child and then when puberty hit the boy started to develop female characteristics and this causes lots of issues as you may expect. If there is no life threatening medical concern some parents allow the child to grow up with both sets of sex organs and allow them to chose at puberty since there is still a biological "memory" that will chose the sex of that child regardless of what the more developed sex organ was at the time of birth.

Now for the gender thing, this is a bit more tricky as gender labels are constantly in development as language changes. "tranny" or "transvestite" which are no longer acceptable terms covered all trans people. But gender is considered to be a social construct based on biological sex. based on the above, the third category of intersex doesn't fit neatly into a binary system. You also have gender dysphoria which starts to presents itself in young children (4/5 yrs) which causes them to see their sexual organs as not belonging to their body because they see them selves as the opposite sex, this is what you would consider someone to be trans-gender. a Transgender female would be someone that has a biological sex of male, but sees themselves as a female, transgender males would be someone that has the biological sex of female but sees themselves as male.

neither of these things has anything to do with sexuality.

hopefully this clears things up.
PS. Cis-gender would be someone that ties their gender to their birth sex.

So basically on earth there are 3 core groups

asexual life (think of some plants and bacteria etc, it basically is just splitting itself)

Sexual life (requires two parties to have sex to reproduce, some creatures like snails have both parts)

The final category is basically things which release that require male and female parts but do not have sex. (think about trees or flowers which release pollen into the air or require other organisms to transfer it for them)

this might not be a perfect explanation but its been awhile since i had biology

in humans the majority of people have two X chromosomes (women) or one X chromosome and one Y chromosome. In some cases people can be born with XXY, XYY things like that. These can cause issues though. people who are born with both parts generally can not reproduce from what i have been told but i could be wrong on that never fact checked it XD
