So I don’t get the ending.

Like, they deflect the Jupiter beam, Earth is saved.

Then what? With the Dark Matter gone, why suddenly does Harlock spring back to life, and the alien sidekick Minmay, I mean Mimay, reconstitute herself after self-evaporating just moments ago?

(It seems almost to me that there would be a time loop thing and Harlock is actually Yama (their scars are similar), which is why Harlock saved Yama because Yama was/is him. But evidently this was not the plot!)

this is Harlock, without the black matter there wouldn't be Harlock. in my opinion, it could have been residue left behind. the whole "the curse is broken thing" I've seen that in Harlock and anime in general. however the time loop could be more accurate, since he was able to bend time with his ship, or perhaps it was because him coming back to life and taking on a new Captain which opens it up further. or perhaps it was because you figured it out and took on what you needed, here, lets give this to you again so there can be more of the franchise.

in all honesty all of these could be accurate in assuming to be honest with you. to be honest, that could have been Harlock's son, we don't really know for certain, perhaps in future franchise they might touch on that, but if it was a time loop, then science teaches us paradox, unless the black matter defused that, and/or the anime didn't want to go into that direction of course.
