Plain

i used to hear the word rutabaga thrown around a couple times in the past.
When I heard about bagels, I thought rutabagas were "ruta-bagels"

Egg or plain will likely always remain my favorites.

Roughly in 1980, mom''s work colleague invited us to their son''s Bar Mitzvah, where I first tasted a bagel at the reception. We were incidentally a bit of a curiosity as people wondered whether there really were "Chinese Jews." Anyway, after that, we just had to have them everyday, they were so good. Dad worked nearer to Chicago then, and would drop by a local bagel factory in Skokie, IL to get a dozen or so every so often. I think it was very traditional, and all made on premises daily-- plain, egg, salt, garlic and/or onion (something like that), poppy seed, and sesame I think there was. Egg bagels seem a bit harder to find nowadays.

Sesame followed by everything bagel. Bought some NY style bagels of both kinds yesterday, though I prefer Montreal style the most.
