Trapped in an FPS. How is that different from just being a soldier irl?

You can't respawn in real life.

It's not anime but go watch Hardcore Henry. It's all in first person. I couldn't watch it. I wanted to throw up.

Whats the point of having all the anime characters ( which are made to look cool/cute/evil etc ) running around .. if the only part of them that you get to look at is the arms?.

You'd have to do it in third person then...and then you'd be looking at their butts.

Only real anime I've seen like this was the bit at the start of Girls Und Panzer where it was done in first person which was cool but a whole anime like that? No, don't think so.

You can't do it in third person, as that obviously wouldn't be first person

FPS games aren't a popular genre in Asia, really.

Most FPS games have fairly garbage stories that only serve to justify shooting at things.

There's less of a.. microcosm of society.. in FPS games, as there's little persistent player interaction. More often than not, you'll never see any of the people you play a random match with ever again.

And finally... To be honest, most FPS culture involves trash-talking and violating corpses. Even Planetside, which is basically an FPS MMO hybrid, had player interactions mostly consisting of trash-talk within your squad and people trash-talking in server chat.

Overwatch? PUBG?

And are MOBAs any better in terms of story?

Anyway, if you wanna avoid toxic people the most you can in a gaming community just play on PC. Not trying to come across as an elitist ass but fewer kids and immature people play there than on consoles. But you are right about FPSs having no story to make some interesting show from.

And to answer the OP's question: Looking at an anime in a first person perspective would be bad. Story would be bad, it just wouldn't be interesting.

Do you mean about the FPS culture, or literally from the first person point of view of an anime character? Like zangeif123 said, like Hardcore Henry? Loved the movie by the way.

Probably because a story about a bunch of players screaming expletives at each other to a gunmetal and mud colored environment wouldn't make for an interesting story.

Were there any I missed? If not, then why are there so few FPS anime?

The closest thing that comes to mind is Btooom! (which isn't on CR, but can be found on HIDIVE and Hulu).

Correction: It is also on CR:

I meant the FPS culture, and not so much the first-person perspective. You know? Explored the same way MMORPG culture was explored in Log Horizon.

Hmmm, I think that perhaps its because, well, what could you do with an FPS anime? Wouldn't it just ab big War anime? MMORPG anime is so common because there is a lot of variety with what you can do, its literally just one giant adventure. Though of course it hasn't been done to my knowledge, so it might be good if done well. What would your ideal FPS anime be like?

Continuing on what a lot of people have already said, Sabagebu Survival Game Club is a fantastic anime imaging of Airsoft pellet culture in a smaller and more comedic setting.

My ideal FPS anime would be a sports anime. That is, we follow a team of FPS players working together to play against numerous opposing teams in tournaments, similar to what we're getting with esports leagues featuring games like Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, and Overwatch.

Hmmm, now, would they be trapped in this world, like, they're the players battling for their survival, or would it be following a team of E-Sports FPS players playing these games?

Why is everyone struggling to imagine what a FPS anime would look like? As I suggested on the first page, go watch Sword Art Online season 2; the GGO arc is all about an FPS, though the viewer sees the action mainly in third person.
