Can someone explain to me what the cr points are for and how I use them? I can't figure out what they are for or how they are used.

Get 500 and make a thread, that's all I know. Otherwise, they don't mean shit.

if you reach 1,000,000 points, you're promoted to "mod". supposedly.

If that the case, I would stay below that numbers! Being Mod mean having to work! XD

They're basically an indication of how active you are on the site. Certain things (creating threads except in help, polls, groups) require certain numbers of points to do, but those limits have been lowered so that pretty basic use of the site will cover them easily. They can't be used to buy or trade for anything, and while there is a list up about CR points, it's out of date so I'm not linking to it until it can be fixed to have the latest info.

ETA: and no, the rumor about becoming a mod or getting other titles after X points is not true.

It's just your reputation basically, like karma from reddit.

If someone is not a subscriber, they need 500 to start new threads outside of the help forums. Same requirement if you want to create a new group. Since you're a subscriber, they don't mean anything at all, other than to (very) roughly indicate how active you are on the forums.

Basically, they mostly prevent bot or bot-like spam threads from being started in the normal non-help areas of the forums.
